    A very stable, steady-growing company.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Rochester, NY

ProsPaychex provides very competitive benefits and treats their employees very well. The senior leadership team is very capable and steers this ship directly toward our company and organizational goals.

ConsThis company is a little slow to conform to some of the industry norms. But, when they do, they make a full commitment and jump right in with both feet.

Flexible Work Environment, Compensation Leaves Something to Be Desired

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Proswork/life balance, flexibility, abundant time off options, coworkers were great. While I was there several family situations arose and my department was excellent about getting me the time and support I needed to be able to handle them. My hours were fair, but there were many occasions where I had no choice but to stay late because there were so few of us.

Consmanagement is inconsistent in quality, compensation lower than other places, many positions require a one year commitment before transfer or promotion. Field employees would sometimes set expectations with customers that we would not be able to fulfill.

Amazing leadership considering the size of the company.

Client Service Representative (Current Employee) Phoenix, AZ

ProsI started working as a Sales Rep and was signed on to an awesome team. They gave me all the support I wanted. After a few months, I came to the decision that I didn't want to be in sales any more, and the local management worked very hard to transfer me to operations in the same branch - where I still am today. I love it on the back side, and I loved it on the sales side too! The people are fantastic, there is a big teamwork vibe. I've worked for several other large corporations, and each branch seemed to talk down about the others. Not the case with Paychex. I even had the opportunity to personally meet the CEO in my first 2 months on the job. He came to our training class and did a Q/A session. The work/life balance is great, even as an hourly employee management is flexible if you need time off for something. They really value the people here.

ConsThe sales jobs is challenging because it is mostly outbound; you generate your own leads. Sales has a great support system with a national telemarketing arm to help generate leads, but you get most of your money yourself. It is WORTH IT if you can keep the momentum up, but that can be hard to do. In operations, it can be frustrating dealing with customer issues, but your team will more than make up for the frustration. The pay is less than the base salary for sales, but to me it's worth it to not have a quota.

    From Ops to Sales

National Sales Support (Current Employee) Rochester, NY

    ProsThe people you work with.

Work environment, flexibility, strong and supportive management, incentive programs, excellent PTO system, most of all the camaraderie here is amazing, sales encourages constant promotion and helps you get to management fast, major sales jobs recruit from paychex reps if you ever decide to leave the company. Everyone knows someone - the networking possibilities are endless. Full benefits day of hire - great health plans with no deductible, Cafeteria plan, matching 401k, 2 weeks paid vacation that you can borrow against if you haven't accrued it yet.

ConsIf you work ops your advancement is limited at best, ops advancement requires years of experience within paychex for jobs which can easily be learned by an inexperienced individual, behind the ball with systems and technology inside the company and for the clients, we are the most expensive solution so price will always be a strong objection to overcome when you sell

Advice to Senior ManagementOps management needs to be more flexible in who they hire internally and stop looking for years of experience in the company for a mere data entry position - don't hold so much esteem in your positions as they can easily be learned by someone with no experience in your product - you turn down hard working employees by unnecessarily over-qualifying your positions.

Sales supervisors are excellent and should continue doing what they do - the support network in the sales division of this company is tremendous and because of that we can reach higher goals

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
