Management & overall company as a whole is a joke, worst job I've ever had.

I worked at Pearle Vision full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I made decent enough money, after commission.

    Cons

Management was a joke at my store. No consistency, no flexibility. The manager takes a week off every month but throws a fit of anyone else needs time off. Luxottica's hr dept might as well not exist in terms of employee welfare. Pay increases and promotions are few and far between.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

(Where to start?) Treat people like people. Employees are not puppets to control 24/7, and customers are not just walking money. Every patient counts, and should be treated as such, not just if they're a big sale. Pearle Vision is supposed to be a healthcare provider, but all of the emphasis is on sales - that's a problem! Fix your computers, they crash every week. The new dress code is completely lost on customers so why have it? When an employee tries to get health benefits and everything mysteriously disappears - NOT acceptable. "Pre-appointments" are the most obnoxious cold-calling tactic, it's one of the most degrading tasks as an employee and not something I would want to receive as a customer. Think about what YOU would appreciate as an employee and as a patient, and maybe then you won't get any more reviews that you are the worst place someone has ever worked.

I worked at Pearle Vision full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice career in a demanding market.

    Cons

No future in this business for an eyeglass manufacturer. Unless you own the business you`ll always be working for the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With the introduction of Luxottica to the company the true spirit of Pearle Vision has been stained and dropped in value and respect from customers and employees.
Luxottica brought horrible management skills with their mentality. Hiring inexperienced people to manage experienced people makes no sense and it`s offensive.
Low unmatched pay for experienced personnel in high demanding industry is offensive and disrespectful to the employees that have been in the business for most of their career length.

I worked at Pearle Vision part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Free glasses every year. Managers works around your schedule

    Cons

Minimum wage with the promise of commission however, if commission is not met depending on sale you will make the base pay. There were pay cuts in the year 2008 when employees did not meet their reviews.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When hiring for managerial position please consider employees already with the company.
Please consider raising the pay raise with the elimination of commission

I have been working at Pearle Vision

    Pros

I can't really say there are any. If your a part-time employee, the manager is very flexible with scheduling. Good workplace for a college student. The doctors are the best.

    Cons

Boss favors women and treats male employees with very little respect. Employees no call no show and still have jobs. Employees with no experience get same rate as employees with multiple years. Part-time employees have the upper hand. Absolutely no room for advancement. I've seen employees undergo two years of productive employment with out a raise. Some employees are rude and belligerent, which consist of burping, farting, pretending to throw up, talking about hardcore sex acts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If there was a competent form of hr there would be trouble

    Pros

salary was good, although bonus was taken away after I was hired !

    Cons

Owner of the franchise was a micro manager, she redid everything anyone did, She used to slap my left hand on the computer in front of customers because she wanted me ti use my right hand! She also made the doctors cry!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Chill out! You spend alot on money on salaries, trust that your people can do the job!
