super stimulating with good connections to coworkers and customers!

Retail Sales and Barista (Current Employee)
Walnut Creek, CA

I have been working at Peet's part-time for more than a year

Prosalways busy - never boring. You get some pretty rad customers coming in, and you end up becoming pretty close to a lot of the regulars that come in. You could have be having the crappiest day ever and have one specific regular come in and have all the grumps go away. I've also never heard of a Peetnik that didn't end up hanging out and getting close to their coworkers.

Consso much work for little pay, very physically demanding. Elbows, wrists, back and shoulders have never hurt so bad.

Advice to Senior Managementdon't assume the only aspect of an employees life is their job.

Initially, great; overtime, you'll notice there's a development problem

Shift Lead (Current Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Peet's full-time for less than a year

ProsHealthcare is substantial, especially since California is going to be charging an avg. 35% increase in individual healthcare costs next year.
The coffee culture is fundamental to the company.

ConsManagers are a hit-or-miss. Either they know how to develop and hold people accountable, or they don't care too much.
The company shifts upper management too often to other stores; i.e. lack of consistency.
no clear path to upward mobility, it's presented as a fog, like it could happen/it's all about about what you do or don't do.

Advice to Senior Managementgive clear concise advice to baristas/shift leads wanting to move up with the company. pay your shift leads more!! (taking tips doesn't count towards compensation overall, especially when they only make a dollar more an hour on avg. then baristas).
