    Pros

The culture at peet's is very relaxed. Some customers can be rude because they think they know more about coffee then you which is often true but peet's tries to prepare you by offering classes to teach you everything you need to know.

    Cons

Don't pay enough compared to other main stream coffee shops for the amount of work they expect you to do.

    Pros

Friendly work environment, awesome crew. Great customers. Overall positive experience with the people.

    Cons

Unfortunately there were not a lot of growth opportunities and it is a minimum wage job, so you can't really expect to stay too long.

    Pros

They start by training you about coffee and tea with taste testing. I really did get to know my beans. They care about their product and respect their employees. Diversity is a competitive advanage.

    Cons

At the time they were using a very clunky DOS based system which I found impossible to learn. I am assuming they have changed that now.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully you are using anything other than the PICK system. You are using loosing potentially great employees because of bad technology.

    Pros

I have been with the company for almost five years now and started with them right out of high school. It is a great company to work for if you are looking for an intermediary job, i.e something to give you work experience to gain access to other jobs elsewhere.
They offer medical insurance for part-time workers as long as you work at least 20 hrs a week.
The fast-paced environment in many of their store locations makes team work a must and because of this, I have made some great connections to current and former coworkers.
Very positive attitude here and there is definite room for growth if one is looking to grow in the company.

    Cons

Starting pay is minimum wage which can be low depending on where you are located.
Depending on the traffic flow in the store, the pay level against for the work involved can definitely be uneven.

    Pros

Free half pound of coffee each week
The training is very intensive, you train for at least a month and you have to go through a coffee and tea class, and get your barista certification. They really make sure you are comfortable with the history and production of coffee and how to make quality drinks.
The hours are really flexible and people are very willing to cover shifts
Good job for high school student

    Cons

A lot of cleaning, which is typical for the closing shift

    Pros

Good and affordable benefits for part-time and full-time retail associates, Most stores have maintained a positive and conducive work environment, the coffee discount is awesome, they try to promote from within whenever possible.

    Cons

A lot of the employees are really immature, customers can be very rude and snooty, pay is pretty sad.

    Advice to Management

Pay people a living wage, noone in the bay area can get an apartment with an hourly wage less than 15.

    Pros

Mostly great co workers, tips, free food and coffee, encouragement to try new things and practice your own ideas. Get to be creative.

    Cons

Some management, sometimes not enough hours given for the amount of work that needs to be done. Early hours.

    Advice to Management

Your stores turnover rate will be high if you are spreading your hours out too thin. 3 hour shifts for some? It's a joke.
