    Pros

Benefits, pay is OK, relationships you build with your team

    Cons

Never keep their promises, annual raises suck, no training, I can go on forever.

    Advice to Management

Keep your promises to your employees. Promote within and not external. Provide more training to your employees, especially the new ones. There's no reason why the raises should be so low when the CEO makes about $3mill a year.

    Pros

Gym, cafeteria, location. Great place to get business experience, and take elsewhere.

    Cons

Unorganized company, low morale, no perks, terrible benefits. Old systems- company can't afford to upgrade.

    Advice to Management

Treat you employees better. Happy employees work harder.

  3. Probably does not apply to all locations

I worked at Pep Boys part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They're pretty flexible with hours. But unless you're really passionate about cars, there are little to no pros...

    Cons

I have no clue how things work at other Pep Boys, but to begin, they provide little to no training. Okay, yes they train for a whole week, but all they do is sit you down in front of a computer all day long to watch slides about car parts. Then they put me on the register on my own after watching another employee for just an hour. I was expected to know what to do that day onward. There was an employee there who was extremely helpful and if it weren't for her I probably would have never learned because they only had one sales associate for every shift. Are you kidding me?! How could I learn anything effectively when I had to cash out a long line of 20 angry customers? Managers didn't like it much when you bothered them either. They would look at you as if you were stupid. In addition to that they were extremely unprofessional. They would talk a whole bunch of smack behind the worker's back...to other workers, instead of handling their business!! Anyway, they were generally nice people, but their management sucked so bad and I understand that half of the time managers would be frustrated and not much help because upper management didn't want to pay for more employees!!! Not their fault I guess, but they really need to get their stuff together.

    Advice to Management

Hire more workers to meet your demands! Keep the customers happy!

    Pros

It's fun exciting high volume ! Fast pace working with people and cars it's really a great company.

    Cons

Lack luster HR department, doesn't seem to care about the employees. Fact Payroll doesn't spend the diligence necessary to resolve payroll issues and Leaves employee holding on for multiple weeks while the waiting pay department does nothing.

    Advice to Management

Need better at base level HR speedy resolutions in payroll...

Ability to learn and earn ASE certifications to get you moved up. Good pay for 30 days.

    Cons

Broken equipment slacking racist people, lots of issues with people following policies and procedures in the location.

    Advice to Management

Have more oversight and the occasional secret shopper to give a nice random showup.
