    Pros

It is an okay place to work if one is looking for general stable employment, however growth within the organization is trying. The employees as a whole are great to work with.

    Cons

The organization philosophy is to keep employee salaries at the middle of their salary range and when one rises above ones salary mid-range is adjusted upward to bring ones salary below their mid-range once again. Very disappointing.

    Advice to Management

Remove obstacles to advancement for everyone qualified.

  3. Overall a decent company, but dependent on department

    Pros

Salary is decent. Opportunity for advancement is present.

    Cons

A lot of dead weight. Longtime employees have lost motivation and can be difficult to work with. The company is over 100 years old so the culture can reflect that.

Currently going through a merger with Exelon, so future is uncertain at best.

Work life balance is a joke. Management talks a good talk, but when the rubber hits the road, the talk fades.

    Advice to Management

Improve work life balance. Employees can be happy and productive with a balanced approach.

    Pros

Good benefits and opportunity to create a desirable work-life balance (within the right departement).

    Cons

Mid-level management is close minded, very difficult to advance.

    Advice to Management

Hire more managers with better, more advanced skills. Provide opportunities for current employees to shine and advance within the company and create a pathway for the college graduates in the company use the degree you (Pepco) funded.

    Pros

Great educational benefits, great environment if you are associated with certain groups within the company. Great place for a young person who is willing to dedicate a few years to learn about the utility business and advance their formal education at no cost.

    Cons

Large utility with antiquated management. Company culture slightly changing to appreciate younger talent. You won't get high tech high pressure jobs here.

    Pros

Stable employment in a bad economy

    Cons

Mid-level management is poorly trained and their technical skills are antiquated, managers are also weak so they will not fire a bad employee, people can spend an entire career at the company doing nothing

    Pros

Some good people there. Good place to work and retire.

    Cons

Too many meetings, too many locations, too many people in charge that don't know what they are doing and are put there based on who they know, not what they know.

    Advice to Management

Keep the good people who know their job and reward them.

    Pros

Pepco provide good benefits. It's one of the few companies in US still has employee pension plan. It also has 10 holidays. For employee work more than 30 years, they can get up to six weeks vacation.

    Cons

As job is stable in Pepco, employees here also lack of incentives to achieve suprior performance. I am not too impressed by most people here.

    Advice to Management

Management should have a fair system set up to promote employee based on their actual performance not on their seniority.
