    It's a decent job.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people, plenty of hours, great management.

ConsOnly cook for several hours at a time, long work hours, burned out too easily.

    Fun as a waiter

    Host, Waiter, Cook (Current Employee)
    Milwaukee, WI

ProsThe food discounts. Flexible hours for a college kid. Pay was descent because of returning customers. I like the job. Not a career...but a good job to get a foundation in the service industry.

ConsThe owner would come in and mess with us trying to run things, but just became confused and it was more funny than anything. Some of the employees were a little questionable when it came to service. Sometimes not friendly and a gossip circle.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore fun events or incentives to keep us motivated. I like the $$. Give better areas to better servers, not just based on tenure..

    Hourly workers

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsAmazing having a place where employees can come on here and say their stores were dirty...yet the next employee doesnt think they should have scrub or clean anything .....gotta love it.

ConsI have no cons all rest are the same different people . We choose where we are and can create a shift to be whatever we need it to be . I work for another company .

Former Server - Perkin's in NJ

    Server (Former Employee)
    Forked River, NJ

ProsIt was a new store opening, so the training was very thorough. The training staff was also extremely up-beat and encouraging.

ConsThe specials were so cheap it was nearly impossible to have a worthwhile day in tips. A lot of servers were also fired within the first week or two for silly things such as not wearing black socks, or trying to sign into their shift a minute early.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep an eye on servers not claiming their tips. I watched employees walk out with $50 in tips and still get a full paycheck to meet the minimum wage requirements.

Former server - Perkins in NJ

ProsFlexible with my school schedule, good way to make money if you're a student, good coworkers. Any of the cons listed below really only apply to the individual and not the company as a whole.

ConsIf you aren't good at serving and aren't a people-person, you won't make as much money or get the good shifts. Sometimes they'll take advantage of you if you have free time; live close by; and are a hard worker. It's hard, but you have to learn to say "No."

    Unprofessional management

    Server (Former Employee)

    ProsI loved my coworkers
    The work was easy
Easy to get time off if needed

ConsManagement played favorites to an extreme.
The amount of side work was insane.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust because you don't like someone on a personal level doesn't make them bad at their jobs. If someone is a hard worker, good at what they do, and dependable then they deserve to be treated like it.

    Very considerate and fast paced.

    Hostess/Cashier (Former Employee)
    Austintown, OH

ProsAlmost family like with co-workers and the managers were very understanding. Your schedule was tailored to who wanted work and who needed days off. Very fun and quick, lots of new people to meet and wonderful to start at.

ConsShared drawers always happen so counts would be off. You didn't have a set leave time, but an estimate of when you could stop taking tables. Rude customers and watching people dine-and-dash.

    Fun, and fast-paced

    Server (Former Employee)

    ProsExcellent Management overall. Fun environment.

ConsHigh turnover rate though that is to be expected in the job.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromotions should be based on merit, rather than solely on seniority

Perkins is a great job to make some easy cash quickly

    Server (Current Employee)

ProsGreat pay, great coworkers, and relatively easy responsibilities

Consunless you want to be a perkins manager, there is not a whole lot of opportunities for growth

Advice to Senior ManagementThey do not use hardly any of the motivational techniques I've learned during my college education. I think if they did, they would overall be more successful.

Inconsistent schedule with great growth opportunities

    Associate Manager (Current Employee)

    ProsOffers a competitive salary
Willing to make a schedule flexible
There are plenty of growth opportunity
    Has great development plans

    ConsWilling to work long hours
sometimes you work late nights, sometime early mornings - inconsistent schedule
    Something new everyday to learn

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember what it was like to be in the position you are managing. This is forgotten at times. Remember the importance of employee satisfaction.
