    Not for creatives

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsDecent benefit and stability, most of the people are good to work with.

ConsIt's great if you like to work with a lot of rules and guidelines, not for creatives. Very Sales and Merchant driven.

Advice to Senior ManagementThink outside the box, do not only rely on reports and numbers. Take a moment to see reality and trust your team.

    Good Luck

Merchandising (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsThey seem to hire qualified people with integrity and a strong work ethic. Co-workers were the best part of the job.

ConsOwners do not care about their employees and treat them like they are disposable.

    Mixed Messages

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsTop management makes a point of knowing all executives and managers by first name and is accessible. Generally, a pleasant environment.

ConsLarge corporation run like a mom and pop operation. Poor follow-up. Need to chase incessantly for answers to questions. There is a fear of making decisions and those made are frequently reversed causing confusion.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide direction and leadership. Do not be a ship without a rudder. Stop the contradictions. Pay attention to what is occurring on the inside of your operation in a timely way rather than when it is obviously too late.

    Major Disappointment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood salary. Good discounts but the only brand worth buying is Penguin. Secure paycheck in uncertain times. Good benefits. If you get a department that wants you to learn and wants to teach you you can learn a lot.

ConsWhen I started here I was hoping to have found a company where I would learn a lot and find good mentors. Couldn't be further from the reality! Managers and executives hurt themselves and the company by treating their team like animals. When you are hired you are hired with the expectation that you will not stay long and treated as such. You are a parasite only to be dealt with if it's absolutely necessary. Then you are faulted when something goes wrong. They want you to be smart enough to work the machines but not smart enough that you could replace them. HR is basically in place just to say they have one. They are completely useless. I only wish I knew of GlassDoor when I was working there to confirm what I already knew because in this company you don't know who you can trust. I would have also seen that I was being severely underpaid for my title. Work here if you absolutely need a job. Keep your head down, do your work and continue looking for a better job. The name doesn't even do much for your résumé as Perry Ellis isn't doing anything relevant in the industry but moving product. It relies on it's well known name and that's a real shame because it could be so much more. Some departments were actually good so if your lucky enough to get a good one, God bless you! Pay attention, work hard and learn what you can.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company will sink with the way things are being handled. Work WITH your team. Not AGAINST them!

Prosgood salary; if you end up in a good division, you will be okay. lots of different divisions give the opportunity to move to other areas

Conslots of nepotism- if you're not friends with family or people who have "in" then your life will be miserable and there will be no accountability for those who harass/ bully

Advice to Senior Managementimprove communication & direction; address culture of favoritism/ nepotism
