    Pros

Helpful supportive people and good culture

    Cons

Things changed after the Actian acquisition - overly concerned with the bottom line

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked for Pervasive Software and was laid off after the Actian acquisition

Former Employee - Project/Product Manager in Austin, TX

I worked at Pervasive Software full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Quality People
    - Lots of Talent
    - Culture was supportive to a work/life balance
    - Willingness to help, everyone is rowing in the same direction

    Cons

For the quality of talent that came through the company's doors and the loyalty and dedication from employees to provide success, I felt there
was little recognition and/or appropriate advancement for work efforts and achievements, and the pay was severely below market/industry wages.

    - Recognized as an "incubator" company:
People would work there for a couple of years to gain experience/knowledge, then leave for another company that offered competitive market salaries.

    - Huge disparity in job compensation:
An employee would make double the salary of another individual in the same job and possess similar or less experience and qualifications, and overall contribute less to position objectives.

    - Perceived Partiality:
Some employees seemed to advance quite quickly over others who possessed more experience, time at company, company/product knowledge and recognized work contributions.

    - Leadership is NOT driving Innovation nor developing staff for future growth.

    - Lack of internal training process and communication.

    - Sometimes felt stuck with little-to-no advancement opportunities available.

    Good Community, Bad Pay

I have been working at Pervasive Software

    Pros

The work environment is pretty good. You can work from home, good company outings and happy hours, and they generally let you be in charge of when you come to work as long as you get your job done.

    Cons

Pay is horrendous. We were paid severely under market price and when we were supposed to get our raise to market price, our department got laid off.

    I worked at Pervasive Software

    Pros

There are some good and very smart people, biggest pro by far is that there are some excellent co-workers to work with and learn from, benefits are pretty good too.

    Cons

Avoid the integration division, bad experience overall there... I'd agree with many of the negatives posted here in other reviews.

I have been working at Pervasive Software

    Pros

Fun place to work, great atmosphere. Make your own hours. Overnight travel only as needed. Great coworkers. Uncapped commission is nice

    Cons

Sales floor is a revolving door, have heard good and bad things about the product. Still in a startup mentality, strange for a 25 year company. Ramp up time is short, quick results expected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More feedback and training would be nice from management. It's hard to turn up something from pretty much nothing while putting out fires from previous projects and getting no credit.
