    Love this company

Customer Success Manager (Current Employee) Austin, TX

ProsGreat management, great partner focus, excellent job of enabling you to do your job and an excellent work life balance

ConsTraining programs have been lacking in the past - this is something that has changed drastically as of late however. They have implemented new hire trainings that are most effective.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue in the Partner focus and with Customer Centric sales.

Work Hard and Benefit From It

    Sales (Current Employee) Austin, TX

ProsPervasive has a strong culture of nurturing those who are passionate about their careers. Employees that are interested in bettering themselves and developing as a professional in their field will feel at home amid a culture of constant improvement and personal growth. This makes the company an especially good opportunity for entry level employees, since their good habits are reinforced from day one by the company's experienced staff (senior employees are highly encouraged to serve as mentors); it also contributes to the promote from within mentality that is prevalent. The company has a "reap what you sew" mentality, so employees are allowed to enjoy the benefits of their effort. Management is upfront and clear in expectations and feedback is forthcoming and constructive. The general situation at the company is made all the better by the strong market demand for its products. In sum, Pervasive offers employees the opportunity and freedom to create their success and benefit from dedication and hard work - the accelerators are fantastic!

ConsIn many ways, Pervasive is a large start up. Such a culture has a lot of great things to offer but there are some annoying aspects as well. The persistent reliance on "Tribal Knowledge" is case in point. Although it is better than it used to be, the company still struggles to scale up its new employee training and dissemination of what works and what doesn't. As a result, new employees are somewhat forced to scavenge the old fashioned way for the most effective strategies. Finally, there are some practices that I don't quite fully understand. The company has a resistance to hiring remote employees which seems a bit out of place in 2012.

Advice to Senior ManagementDouble down investment in your employee's professional development.
Keep breaking down the silos between the various divisions; everyone will benefit from more cross-pollination.
Keep investing in the high growth areas of your business.

    Best Company in Austin!!!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Austin, TX

ProsHard work is rewarded with intangible rewards like comp time, recognition by the whole company, etc. There is a culture of over acheiving hard workers who also play hard. Great benefits package. Most of management understands that their job is to run interference between upper management and those doing the grunt work. Great company social events! Always staying on the cutting edge of emerging tech.

ConsThere is a culture of over acheiving hard workers, lol...

Advice to Senior ManagementLeadership at Pervasive has great vision and does a great job of letting the whole company know what's going on.

    A great place to be!

    Engineer (Current Employee) Austin, TX

ProsNo Micromanagement to throw you in a loop. It's more of a community than a job, you feel more at home.

ConsYou sometimes have to work pretty hard and extended hours depending on projects. No to say this isn't compensated with playing harder.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management has done very well moving people around and making sure everyone is as satisfied as they can be.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
