Was great. A lot has changed recently

    Store Manager (Former Employee)

    Prosshare your love of animals

Consreduction of hours and increased expectations. In essence they are making it impossible to bonus for most

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want excellent customer service OSATs, give the stores the hours to make it happen. I realize reducing payroll is the fastest way to increase profit, but at what cost?

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Typical brutal corporation, with the guise of being helpful and caring.

    Support Manager (Former Employee)
    Metairie, LA

ProsFlexible hours, Good for students, Dynamic environment

ConsPoor compensation and raise structure for lower level management and associates, extreme politics games in upper management, nothing done for complaints of sexual harrassment by upper management, passive aggressive methods of handling mistakes or reprimands

Advice to Senior ManagementIf an employee makes illegal claims against a manager, something needs to be done. Pay is horrendous for the extent of work expected of employees (unless you are a good employee and demand a raise)

You'd think playing with dogs would be more fun

    Senior Petshotel Associate (Former Employee)
    Plano, TX

ProsIn the PetsHotel, it was generally a fun environment--play with dogs, take them on walks, do some cleaning. As a part-time position, the pay is pretty generous, flexible hours, etc.

ConsUpward movement is limited, and when it happens, your responsibilities will multiply but your salary will not.
The work is physically straining, best suited to younger employees, but management looks for older potential employees who look good on paper but who end up bailing after a few weeks due to the strenuous workload.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement (and I mean all the way up the ladder) should reward its employees who have shown dedication and hard work. Not enough employees to cover all shifts, senior staff ends up working overtime, dogs get less attention.

Temporary with no room for growth

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWorking with animals and meeting new pets. Get a paycheck meet new dogs and get to interact with them daily.

ConsLow wages, little hours and double the work. "Managers" are on power trips who act like they are better then everyone and love telling people what to do. No benefits just a "care card" which is just an excuse of showing acknowledgement to treating you like crap.

    Not impressed

    Pet Care Specialist-Petshotel (Former Employee)

ProsWorked as a hotel employee for two years - great hours (usually full time hours), long shifts.

ConsThe management at both stores I worked for was terrible. There was no communication between managers and everyone was on a different page. There was especially no communication between management and lower employees. I saw very few instances of good communication, good recognition, or good management moments at all.

Spending 6 or more hours of a 9 hour shift in doggy day camp got old fast - it started out as a job I loved but we were so understaffed all the time and burnt out that it easily became a job I hated.

The environment was also pretty toxic - very petty and gossipy with no real working as a team.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove relations between associates and managers, and improve communication between managers.

    The cons outweighed the pros.

    Pet Stylist (Former Employee)
    Silverdale, WA

ProsWorking with dogs and tending to their needs is a rewarding experience. You have the ability to appeal to a customer and they can request you, which creates a bond between you, the pet parent and the animal. The co-workers that you can click with make working here a great place to be.

ConsWorking in the salon is difficult and very hectic. The environment is compact and they try to fit several girls and dogs in it. There's not enough room and it just makes it crazy. Especially on the weekends! Everyone is angry. Management does not understand and will force you to do so many dogs even when you can't do it safely. Money is all that matters to them! People have been known to cheat the system and it's not fair. Don't work in the salon here. Not worth your well-being.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnderstand that your employees are not robots. Investigate into suspicious activities instead of blowing it off.

They do not value experience only store trained employees for the lowest wage

    Pet Training Instructor (Former Employee)
    Lubbock, TX

    ProsSome good managers
Easy hire if you need a job and have no experience

ConsYoull make more working entry level at mcdonalds
They do not value long experience and will tell you that you are overqualified
    very outdated equipment

Advice to Senior ManagementMore consistency in training
    more consistency on P&P
Make it a priority to hire those with experience vs those who have none just so you can pay them less

Opportunity for first job because you dont know anything about how good management works

    Pet Instructor (Former Employee)

ProsThe best are the customers, helping, getting to know their pets, and getting thanked for knowledge and help. Dogs are the best

ConsManagement-fake, lie, backstab. Corporate-act like they care, they dont. 4 yrs here, still under 10.00 an hr.

Advice to Senior ManagementAsk the stockers or a cashier what your next set of policies should be. Common sense people. Pay increase that say something to an employee about their worth, not based on a chart based on a review.

I loved the pets, not the people

    Cashier (Current Employee)
    Roswell, GA

ProsThe pets were awesome. Everyday was a new pet experience

ConsHours and favoritism. If one manager decided he/she doesn't like you. They will cut your hours and make working miserable

Advice to Senior ManagementMake it an actual equal oppurtunity employer

    Fun but not fun

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsBeing able to talk to people and help them with their needs. The associates are quite friendly.

ConsWorking early hours and not getting commended for your work. The managers can be quite moody at times and half the time they are unreliable showing up late or calling off almost every week. Sad thing is, nothing is done about it... Also take note that there is no room for moving up where I'm at.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart doing something about managers constantly calling out or being late and perhaps appreciate your employees more...
