I have been working at Petco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with all types of reptiles and animals. Learning about how to care for these types of reptiles and animals.

    Cons

The only challenge I see, with working here, is not having enough space in my own home to adopt all of these animals.

I worked at Petco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

We got 20% off everything in the store, the managers were awesome, employee's were super nice, and duh animals!!

    Cons

Rude customers, snobby rich ladies, seeing a dog clearly being abused and could do nothing about it, heavy lifting, sometimes dogs were crazy in the grooming salon, bites, scratches, etc, ANAL GLANDS!!!

    Advice to Management

Honestly I loved management they were always willing to work around my crazy schedule, and they made the sucky job way better.

I have been working at Petco part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

small staff in a lot of stores, PTO if you average enough hours your first year, great people and a the company doesn't force you to push sales or you're fired (the managers just get crap about it), you get to know the regulars very easily, and you get to pet dogs every day!

    Cons

small staff means time off on short notice is impossible unless your coworkers love you enough to trade shifts, not all stores are A+ level

    Advice to Management

Maybe not change the trackers every few months randomly to see what works best. Nobody really follows it anyways

I have been working at Petco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get to work with animals and they will teach you a lot of cool things. They will train you to become a groomer to dog trainer. You get free dog training and a discount on shots and grooming. If you do your job and sell dog training you get rewarded

    Cons

No cons what so ever, I love my job. The only possible con I could have would be that there aren't enough petco stores in the world.

    Advice to Management

help your DT sell classes by giving them interest forms.

I have been working at Petco part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

i love animals. I love to make them look pretty & have a style.

    Cons

    - Working with animals is difficult and occasionally frustrating for obvious reasons. - A pet might act aggressively to defend himself. Injuries from bites and scratches are simply unavoidable. - You might sometimes get bit; pets might poop or pee on you. Someday you will find yourself covered with pet hair, dander and pet drool. - You need to work hard as well as laboriously, as heavy lifting is part of the job.

I worked at Petco full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

amazing work environment, relaxed workplace, working with animals, fun co-workers

    Cons

working during holidays in stores, working with younger, hourly workforce

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your tenured employees so they won't want to leave and listen to what they have to say since they've been there the longest

I worked at Petco part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff were all very compassionate about the animals and ensuring the customers were given the best service possible! Great team work, exciting environment, fun, and the best part were the animal interactions.

    Cons

Managers and workers are not paid enough for providing the best service to the customer's and their animals! Definitley need to pay more for all the compassion and hard work.
