    Pros

Excellent Pay and Benefits Package, Development Opportunities

    Cons

Absence of work-life balance, "Throw into the deep end" mindset for developing people, Lack of guilt-free vacation leaves

    Advice to Management

Ensure that whatever is shared by top management is cascaded down to the ranks (e.g. reduce work volume through proper planning). There's so much talk about process improvement, pushing the needle, etc. but it's reached the point where it's not clear if management cares about the people at all or if it's all just numbers.

    Pros

    - If you know the right people and happen to get lucky, there are international opportunities available for you where you can learn and grow (unfortunately it seems to be a very small number of employees). - Benefits

    Cons

    - Old Boy's Club - VERY Old, staunch, boring company and people- totally against innovation and doing new things. The technology SUCKS - Very political and conservative- red tape to make even the simplest decisions - Tobacco industry- I have personally lost a good friend because of my choice in employer - Highly dysfunctional- There are individuals who have been the company 30+ years who have not evolved past the 80s and have no idea to how to use technology. These people are often at the top of the food chain and rely on you to do all the work for them for them to take credit and present to senior management. A colleague of mine's boss doesn't even write his own emails. - Highly individualistic culture where people overlook the basic duties of a job in favor of doing the "showy" things so that they can be recognized and promoted, even though they basically failed at their job.

    Advice to Management

Deal with underperformance! It's honestly ridiculous how many incompetent people I deal with on a daily basis. Also, if you really want a culture change here and would like to join the rest of the world in the 21st century, then walk the talk- it's still an old boy's club stuck in the Reagan years and this environment does not work for most people.

    Pros

Challenging industry with top talent in Marketing Roles.

    Cons

Industry is not going anywhere and the top management does not see this.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on developing its people and providing realistic assessment of the markets in which it operates.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits compared to industry. Good exposure and training opportunities. Good career opportunities and room to grow fast if you are mobile.

    Cons

There is no Marketing in Tobacco. At PMI you totally miss out on the Digital Marketing World and almost the entire Marketing Mix apart for some BTL activity (all depends on the market). And if you don't know Digital and 360 marketing, you don't know Marketing in today's World. This can drastically hinder your ability to find a job after PMI. Extremely Bureaucratic and Slow speed to market compared with competition. Poor work-life balance. Politics had become destructive to the company and to its employees making it a volatile and sometimes a hostile and unpleasant working environment.

    Advice to Management

CEO Lacks leadership and vision for the company. Almost all of SMT have been their entire lives at PMI and I believe the company needs fresh blood at the top from other more dynamic industries.

    Pros

    Cons

Severe over-analysis and office politics: careers accelerate or stall depending on managers' opinions

    Pros

Fantastic career and learning opportunities for years.

    Cons

Recent change in senior management transformed the company and made it a very unfriendly and immobile environment - everybody is hiding in corners to protect their jobs - reputation of the firm has gone down significantly - headhunters will unquestionably validate this statement. Strategic mistakes dramatically impacted the performance of the stock price since the new management took over - compare its performance to the former (weaker) sister company (Altria / PM USA).

    Advice to Management

Egomaniacs do not listen to advice from others - they "know better"...!

    Pros

Stable job. Salary above the average.

    Cons

Political environment. You have to develop a strong networking to get a promotion. Human Resources sucks. You are just a number. The tool to evaluate your performance is extremely unfair and the company only use the tool to fire or promote people. Forget about having a career plan. Manager don't support their teams. They are just political. Focus on make your boss happy. Build your expertise?. Not in this company.
