I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You will work with a great team manager. Each job will have a few bad apples (coworkers), but for the most part people at Philips know and do their job really well, which will make working with them easy. It's important for me to get along with coworkers. It's easy to go to school and work at the same time. Scheduling and a flexible manager who encourages going back to school makes it all possible. Great benefits and 401k package.

    Cons

The work load is consistently overwhelming due to the understaffing and can leave you disgruntled at times if you allow it to get to you.

    Advice to Management

Must keep a full staff. Understaffing creates more of a work load on other employees, which can create a low moral environment due to the overexertion of work.

    Pros

Good pay. Good individual people. Very good office space.

    Cons

Competitive environment that does not condone working together. Management direction can be chaotic and fickle.

    Advice to Management

Have a plan at all levels and work together to bring it about. Break dept silos down.

I worked at Philips Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay was good. Job security was god.

    Cons

Very little opportunity to take on new responsibilities. Environment is very clickish. If in the right click your lie is great - but in the wrong one - not so good.

    Advice to Management

Learn to take advantage of employees strengths - be a little less worried about losing an FTE to another department..

I worked at Philips Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Recent advancements in product offerings and changes in sales organization will help the company

    Cons

Negative sentiment in the marketplace will take several quarters to recover

    Advice to Management

Seek to eliminate the middle management who are there simply due to Peter Principle

I worked at Philips Healthcare as an intern

    Pros

I worked on a really strong technical team that taught me a lot. Overall it was a really friendly work environment.

    Cons

There seemed to be very limited room for career advancement. Most of the managers and senior engineers had been there quite some time and I wasn't able to see a clear growth path.

    Advice to Management

Highlight area for career advancement for more junior employees. Potentially lay out a possible career path at the company.

    Pros

Great benefits, nice people, committment to excellence, nice working conditions,.Highly ethical

    Cons

The company is constantly in a state of change. Always trying to re-invent themselves. Good intentions, few real sucesses. When they have a real success, they tend to rest on their laurals.

    Advice to Management

Give the customers what they want. Don't make products first and then tell the customer this is what they need.

I worked at Philips Healthcare (More than a year)

    Pros

Rewarding job making imaging equipment to help patients. Opportunity for travel and working with international colleagues/vendors.

    Cons

Frequent reorganizations, company losing business share to GE and other healthcare leaders. Faced with hiring freeze a few times.

    Advice to Management

Focus on core products instead of diversifying to meet all markets. While trying to build the best product, budget was not considered and we priced ourselves out of interested customers' range.
