I worked at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work-life balance is great. I had a great team of colleagues and our customer base was exceptional.

    Cons

We were constantly faced with challenges related to the company being just WAY too big...changes moved at "glacial speed" and we were often beaten by competitors with better/faster product development etc. Frustrating!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow the field sales folks to voice an opinion (typically very relevant since they are on the front lines!) about products etc. And try to expedite positive changes!

    Average company

I have been working at Philips Healthcare

    Pros

They are flexible and stable with plenty of interesting projects. The culture is pretty laid back. People are overall friendly and good to work with each day.

    Cons

There is not much room for advancement especially merit based. You need to gain experience to be promoted which takes years. Not a good place to be if you're a young professional.

I found the business to be challenging from the product technical aspects to its company culture.

I worked at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Vacation and time off due to seniority was great. However personal or career growth sometimes stunted when business needs were changed by market demands or management.

    Cons

Change is a constant factor. Never enough time to understand and implement changes especially when wearing multiple hats(responsiblities). Employee input was disrespected leading to lower morale. Previous company culture compared to being "a family" instead of a corporation

I have been working at Philips Healthcare (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Compensation is okay
    People are nice
    people focused company
You can stay as long as you want if you can follow one simple policy - "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours"
Benefits are decent but not as good as they boast - check out new policies

    Cons

People are nice but not as a team. They play safe game and when you challenge they act as if they do not know what you are talking about.

CEO is clueless. Strategy changes after every quarter results. All these years, they wasted tons of money calling it "One Philips" and trying to integrate different divisions and now they are again spending double of it to disintegrate the same.

There are managers either who doesn't know what they are doing or those who micro manage veterans like college out kids. And there are managers who just believe that there is nothing beyond their knowledge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is not a completely manufacturing/ production company. You cannot fix every problem with Lean/ Six Sigma methodologies.

Being in a leadership role doesn't mean forcing your team to do what you say but take their inputs and improvise it. Talk to your internal analysts before paying millions of $ to a top-tier consulting firm and getting the same version.

It's high time you start working for what you get paid!!!

    Pros

Good work environment, talented people. Flexible work hours.

    Cons

Constant layoffs. Management concerned with schedules over quality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maintain your investment in employees. Try to find internal opportunities instead of layoff. Assist with skill set modifications to retain employees. Show real action on quality not just talk.

    I worked at Philips Healthcare

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Hard working people. Good marketing and vision.

    Cons

Always one step behind GE. The management team is allowed to make decisions that thwart business growth. All marketing and nothing to back it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advance individuals that interact with customers into management positions. Management has been away from the customer for too long to have a real understanding about what the customer really needs and wants. Become less frigid. Flexibility will grow business faster than "that's how we've always done it" attitudes.

I have been working at Philips Healthcare

    Pros

The work life balance is nice

    Cons

    No career progression
    Pay is below industry average
    Hard work is not rewarded
Zero innovation in sales/marketing/ways of thinking (aside from new products of course)
No strategy, concerns about long-term sustainability of the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remove the plague that is ruining this company which is a disengaged, non-innovative, stale middle management that has no desire for professional growth or to develop others. The majority of people at this company cannot send a meeting invite or run a pivot table, or run a productive discussion. Mediocrity is widely accepted and hailed. If not championed, in an effort not to ruffle any feathers.

The consistent promotion of innovation is overwhelmingly concerning as an employee because it is such a farce. Does Philips truly lack awareness of what is happening here? Innovation and you? It's a joke. This company is in a stalemate compared to truly innovative companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, or Starbucks. Major change is needed to right this ship.

    Pros

Considering today's environment that everything is "quick, quick", this is an reasonable work place although work pace is faster day by day...

    Cons

Too much politics among different sites. Lack of long team vision and direction.
