    I worked at Pilot Flying J full-time

    Pros

If you work hard it is noticed and easy to move up. Benefits and pay are decent. That's about it.

    Cons

There is corruption in our region. Certain people do whatever they want with no consequences, and things have been covered up. Nobody will say anything with fear of losing their job. We also need more labor to accomplish what they expect us to. Right above store level makes a quarter of a million dollars a year, but we can't have any overtime or pay people more than $8-9 an hour.

    Advice to Management

Management needs an overhaul starting with regional all the way down to store level shift leads. We need an alert line that is truly anonymous.

I have been working at Pilot Flying J part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced, and customers (generally truck drivers) are great! If you like people and being able to make a customer feel appreciated and welcome this is the place to work.

    Cons

Low pay, starts at 9.00 per hour in Utah. Very poor management. Schedules are changed regularly, employees come when they want and leave early all the time. There is no accountability to those that show up late, call out because of any willy nilly reason, i.e., (cant find a baby sitter, cant get a ride, etc). People show up and do as little as possible, just standing at the register, not doing the cleaning, etc., that a store needs on a regular basis

    Advice to Management

Recognize employees that are punctual and reliable. Make employees that call in have a doctor's note if they claim to be ill, start writing people up that are habitually late or calling off their shifts, using a progressive step type reprimand system. I.E 1. Verbal warning, 2. Written warning, with suggestive corrective actions needed on employees part, with clearly defined repercussions should behavior continue, 3. Final written warning. 4. Termination. Give each employee a predefined area that they are responsible for keeping fully clean, and HAVE MANAGER follow up, or shift leaders follow up. Your people at the location I work at don't care, and it starts at the top!

    Pros

None, District management will coach you in with promises and then set you up to fail.

    Cons

Upper management is ruthless, very deceiving and will set you up to fail

    Advice to Management

Review District / Regional Managers style of managing employees. Turnover rate can be reduced by at least 25 percent if not for deception by District Managers

I worked at Pilot Flying J full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This job started out to be Good. One year later I got my vacation and that was nice but rating the job as not so well.

    Cons

There is a lot of playing favorites at this job. If you want a job that promotes others for calling in and being on the phone all day than this might be for you. If you are hard working and show up in time be prepared for being treated like crap. In the beginning they will promise a good seclude but the end result they don't care about you or if you have time with your family only the managements family is important to them. I rate this job as very poor due to favoritism And discrimination.

    Advice to Management

Make sure all GM's know how to do the job they are being paid to do. Favoritism should not be allowed if you have Good employees those are the ones you should try to keep. Having employees that call in all the time and stay in the phone texting and facebook should not have the best schedule as Monday through Friday and don't have to work weekends. Employees like this should not be promoted while decent employees get treated badly.

    Pros

The pros would include nice office, good location.

    Cons

Very "entitled" environment. Management in Real Estate Dept was very poor and displayed a serious lack of integrity.

    Advice to Management

A manager is someone who directs a team (not excludes one person and directs the rest of the team). Try not to base decisions off of assumptions and remember that as a manager you should know there are always two sides to every story.

I have been working at Pilot Flying J full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get meet people from all over the globe and get paid weekly. I can't think of another reason that could be considered a "Pro"

    Cons

Horrible management , on both the deli side and retail side. Lazy workers who call in, go home, or just don't show up, and who do not do their job when they are at work, who cause friction within the store, and they get pats on the back and raises while hard working reliable people are treated very very poorly. Things are broken and never fixed. Attention to important details are ignored. This is a travel center/truck stop that constantly runs out of everything that is needed on a daily basis, such as eating utensils, coffee and toilet paper and the list goes on from there. Bad management is the problem with this store in my opinion. I could go on but I think the point is pretty clear.

    Advice to Management

This advice is NOT meant for the management team that is at this store. This advice for Pilot corporate...Need new general manager and assistant managers and any other people who have "manager" anywhere in their job title. You need to get in this store and observe what is really going on and do something about it. This store has lost a lot of good workers due to the work environment and it will lose every good worker it has left if something is not done to fix the issues.

    Pros

Get paid weekly. You get to meet different people from around the state/ world. Thats really the only good thing about working for this company.

    Cons

Bad managers. No hours. No respect. Lazy co workers. Nothing is done to people who do wrong. The good gets punished and the bad gets raises. Even trying to tell your concerns to the gm/ assistant manager/ or even the regional manager nothing is done.

    Advice to Management

    Needs new gm/ assistant manager!

I have been working at Pilot Flying J full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff and management are friendly, customers are run.

    Cons

Constantly lied to about raises, severly underpaid, company only cares about their profits and not the staff or management. It is a very crooked company deep down, the only people who make enough to make a living are the corporate and CEOs. All other staff are underpaid, especially management. You CANNOT live off their pay. They are under staffed constantly and work is extremely busy and stressful, they expect too much from such a small staff for what they pay, not worth the stress at all.

    Advice to Management

Don't expect any raises they promise you. They'll either not give it to you or give you a very small amount. Expect your hours to jump all over the place with very little sleep or life outside of work.

    Pros

Salary was above average. Good people to work with.

    Cons

Upper management is ridiculous they behave like a college fraternity. Labor budgets are a total joke. You never get enough hour to truly take care of you customers. You are always made to feel like you are replaceable. Really there are too many cons to mention.

    Advice to Management

Wake up! Give your people the labor they need to take care of their customers.
