    Pros

Get paid weekly. You get to meet different people from around the state/ world. Thats really the only good thing about working for this company.

    Cons

Bad managers. No hours. No respect. Lazy co workers. Nothing is done to people who do wrong. The good gets punished and the bad gets raises. Even trying to tell your concerns to the gm/ assistant manager/ or even the regional manager nothing is done.

    Advice to Management

    Needs new gm/ assistant manager!

    Pros

The staff and management are friendly, customers are run.

    Cons

Constantly lied to about raises, severly underpaid, company only cares about their profits and not the staff or management. It is a very crooked company deep down, the only people who make enough to make a living are the corporate and CEOs. All other staff are underpaid, especially management. You CANNOT live off their pay. They are under staffed constantly and work is extremely busy and stressful, they expect too much from such a small staff for what they pay, not worth the stress at all.

    Advice to Management

Don't expect any raises they promise you. They'll either not give it to you or give you a very small amount. Expect your hours to jump all over the place with very little sleep or life outside of work.

    Pros

Salary was above average. Good people to work with.

    Cons

Upper management is ridiculous they behave like a college fraternity. Labor budgets are a total joke. You never get enough hour to truly take care of you customers. You are always made to feel like you are replaceable. Really there are too many cons to mention.

    Advice to Management

Wake up! Give your people the labor they need to take care of their customers.

    Pros

The only pro is you are paid on time. There are benefits, but they are expensive and cover next to nothing.

    Cons

General Managers are well taken care of despite their total incompetence and lack of concern and compassion for employees and customers. Scheduling and hours are never consistent nor are your days off. Guest Service Leaders are treated unfairly, held accountable for everything, while working with below intelligent, mentally unstable cashiers. Working all three shifts in the same week is common place as well as constantly changing your hours and not advising you. Guest Service Leaders work all the holidays and weekends and are penalized for asking for time off. Most locations are not safe places to work, drugs, prostitution, human trafficking and violence abound. Insubordination toward Middle Management is common place and acceptable. Some are required to have 24/7 availability, while others are hired for the same position and the same or more money and not required to have 24/7 availability. Middle Management is neither supported or respected due to the fact that General Managers often reprimand then in front of customers and employees. Praise in Public, Admonish is Private is a concept General Managers refuse to adopt.

    Advice to Management

General Managers, Regional Managers and Above including Jimi Haslam should work the way they expect their store level Management and employees, especially Guest Service Managers and Maintenance Workers.
If upper management and corporate big wigs had to produce the way they expect store level employees to produce, they could/would never survive. It's easy to look at figures and your salary and bonuses and never care about the people who are being treated like garbage and thought of as the dirt on corporates shoes.
It is sad when a General Manager needs to ask a Guest Service Leader how to do something, yet those same Guest Services Leaders are not supported or backed by that same General Manager. Guest Service Leads can bring anything and everything to a General Managers attention and be admonished, yet when it all hits the fan they want to know why didn't you tell me this sooner. Get a grip on what life at Pilot/Flying J is really like, not sit back in your offices and live your lavish lifestyles while your bread and butter workers are treated like garbage.

    Pros

Pay every week- if they get your hours right

    That's about it.

    Cons

Demand one maintenance person to do everything; clean showers, wash and dry them fold towels; clean restrooms every hour; mop, sweep, pick up the floors; pull all trash outside; fill buckets, change squeegees; fill propane tanks; run outside every five minutes that their stupid flintlock system fails and shuts the pumps off; change nozzles and other parts of their pumps; and, if you're also a cashier, you have to do that maintenance procedures plus cashier. All in 8 hours.

The plan I feel is they regret buying flying J back in 2010, and they want it to fail so they can wrote it off for business loss on taxes. Why do they favor the pilot stores while the J stores fall apart?

Go elsewhere for employment, you only get 8.50 an hour for it all. I worked for Flying J years ago when they were independent, much better place, too bad they messed up. Within five years the J stores will be parking lots for Pilot.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting anyone with a pulse, and pay your dedicated workers a little better. Or, let the J stores die as you're planning it.

    Pros

The coworkers are just as disgruntled about their jobs as you are. Sometimes funny when things get completely out of control.

    Cons

The truckers are crazy and harass you on the daily. Deal with lots of druggies/mentally ill/homeless people. The entire place is a circus and we called the cops almost daily while i was there. Management uses tiny raises and empty promises to keep you stuck in your dead end job. Absolutely no training except clicking through some videos. Entire mission is babying difficult customers. Almost no opportunity to move up. Rated on your sales as a cashier. Benefits cost almost half of what you make as a minimum wage worker. Managers break the law whenever they want and push you into being scheduled horrible, odd hours.

    Advice to Management

Train your employees, and be more selective about who you hire!!!
