I have been working at Pioneer Natural Resources (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Well compensated while employed. But they take back the employee retention bonuses when they lay you off. They would rather advertise for a field supervisor than offer it to a laid off supervisor from another division.

    Cons

The "robust" severance package did not include a significant amount of employee retention incentive that was awarded to the laid-off employees. If you are going to refer to it as a employee retention bonus during the busy times; then refer to it as that when you close the Denver and Kansas offices.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your laid off employees as much as your current employees. The current employees will start hearing the steps of the axe man and the hand in their "awarded" incentive bonuses.

    Cons

Poor Leadership Places consultants in charge of employees Managed from the top down Incompetent leadership Leadership indecision Production is King and stock price is Queen Leadership will not address issues brought forward by concerned employees 99% of the drilling operations personnel are contractors/consultants Drilling operations consultants allowed to do anything they want. Drinking out on the well site Operations refuses to follow or execute drilling programs. Promotes incompetent leaders with no experience. Corruption by consultants in the field

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

There were about two or three amazing people. However, senior executives are all trying to stab each other in the back to gain seniority.

    Cons

    Senior Management - Corporate Culture

    Advice to Management

Figure out who is in charge - assign areas of responsibility so there is no confusion.
