Former Employee – worked at Pitney Bowes
Pros – remote work at home in bad weather and every Friday.
Cons – Most IT jobs have been outsourced, the employees always worried about job security, the company is trying to flush out the older employee to hire newly graduated college students to reduce the cost.
There is no career path and grow in the company

Current Employee – been working at Pitney Bowes
Pros – Several good-hearted co-workers help the day go by.??The top boss at the location and another management position really do care about what is going on. I sense they are very sincere.
If the machines are functioning, the day goes by quickly.
Cons – If the machines are NOT functioning, the day is a pain.
The wide variety of insurance choices I had when I started have disappeared this year.
Very slow to change. Top-heavy, HQ micro-management. Mail processing machines are poorly maintained. Paper adhesive labels and rubber bands, I am NOT kidding, are poor substitutes for steel springs and other OEM machine parts.
Annual "raises" are practically meaningless. Pay is half or less than half that of a U.S. postal worker for the same position. (I have relatives who have retired from the USPS.) When the raise is "approved", it is a couple months late and applied retroactively.
Poor dental coverage - only the most basic services are covered affordably. (Delta Dental out of New Jersey for employees in Minnesota at least - seems strange.) Only the most basic services are covered affordably.
The top boss at the location and another management position sometimes are not aware of what is going on, I believe. Example, very uneven allocation of overtime hours; The same few employees are allowed a full forty hours, plus overtime, plus holiday pay - all in one pay period, while the majority have their hours cut below forty.......including weeks without a holiday. How "coincidental" that these same employees are related (married).??
Unprofessional, public humiliation of some employees. If an employee is not following policy, such as late to work numerous times, then deal with them in a professional manner. Do not "make" them stand in the middle during a meeting.
Advice to Senior Management – Let us and help us work SMARTER, not just brute-force harder. The potential of your employees is capped, in part, by lack of communication with production workers, inconsistent and/or contradictory decisions by supervisors and "leads".??Well maintained machines run faster and more efficiently than those improperly maintained. Properly maintained - the machines will SAVE the company time and money.??Actually repair the machines instead of jerry-rigging them. Don't be so cheap on consumables such as pick-off belts, for example. A full set of good belts increases productivity.??Emergency stop switches are on the machine for a purpose; Repair the malfunctioning switches before someone gets hurt. Waiting a year at least, and still counting, is not a good sign that safety is a priority. Nor can a safety cheer replace proper maintenance.

Current Employee – been working at Pitney Bowes
Pros – The working environment is great - hours are very fair. All the employees are friendly and willing to communicate. Does not have a cut-throat environment
Cons – The pay is very average at best. There really isn't much opportunity for growth in terms of pay or position. Employees seem very content with their status.
Advice to Senior Management – Create more opportunities for growth, both, in terms of responsibilities and compensation. Create a desire for employees to advance more.

Cons – No input. Senior management makeas all the decisions. Job is not gaureenteed. Layoffs are done on an annual basis. No one is safe
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to the ideas of your employees. COntinue to praise employees on a job well done. Give employees annual bonus.

Former Employee – worked at Pitney Bowes
Pros – Opportunity to learn new things and grow within the company
Cons – Culture is extremely passive aggressive. You think you have buy in...people agree in person however they don't support the execution or worse sabotage it.
Moreso than not, advancement in the company is based on the relationships you have and not necessarily the results you achieve.
Advice to Senior Management – You've re-branded yourself several times over the last few years. What do you want to be????? PBMS has a huge customer based that is not fully leveraged by other pockets of the business... what really is the strategy?

Former Employee – worked at Pitney Bowes
Pros – Industry leader, market leader, brand recognition, government contractor, national and international presence, paper, mailing and supplies provider, global postal handling
Cons – Neopost, competition was constantly underbidding, when it comes to price, pitney bowes lost market share. other vendors equipment documents, packaging, mailing, and shipping, collectively referred to as mailstream. What are they doing wrong?
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to the customer and the workers - and not be beat on price only

Pros – -If you can handle the service responsibilities and are good at it, your job is secure.
Cons – -Lack of promotion from within the organization. If you are a good technician, you will find it difficult to be considered for management. They will hire outside the organization.
Advice to Senior Management – -Consider internal talent for promotion. You are losing good peopel by ignoring their contributions to the success of Pitney Bowes.
