    I worked at Plantronics

    Pros

They put a lot of effort into their internship program - lots of brown bag lunches to hear executives/representatives from various departments talk about what they do. They include interns in pretty much everything their full-time employees have access to, including monthly all hands meetings, parties, socials, 401k match, gym. The projects given to interns varied in importance and coolness, with some interns getting really disorganized or low-level projects and others actually making a valuable impact on the company. The people here are pleasant to work with, and there is a very egalitarian system of seating - even the CEO doesn't have a set desk so he would often sit near my fellow interns.

    Cons

Some of the intern projects didn't sound very cool to me, though mine was pretty good. The average age of the company is very high because a lot of people have been working with the company for >15 years. This is a good sign, but it means that there is not much opportunity for advancement in most departments. The laid-back culture sometimes leads to slacking off and lack of productivity in several departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to bring more young, talented people into Plantronics. This will make it a more desirable work environment and help you connect with the younger generation through your products.

I have been working at Plantronics full-time

    Pros

Plantronics is a great company to work for. The associates are friendly and truly make it an enjoyable place to work. Plantronics has an unlimited PTO policy, meaning to you take the time off that you need/want, with the approval of your manager, no banking time for that vacation you've been wanting to take. Plantronics is also a big proponent of working remote, giving you the flexibility to work from home, a local coffee shop or wherever you need to work to get your job done.

    Cons

Because Plantronics is a great company to work for, people tend to stay for a long time, limiting the growth opportunities. Additionally, the total compensation package is lower than comparable companies in Silicon Valley.

I have been working at Plantronics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, culture and products. Beautiful and modern offices with lots of outdoor space, on-site cafe and state-of-the-art gym. Very flexible approach to work styles. Work from home, in the office, however it works best for you. Solid financials with great growth potential.

    Cons

Very meeting-centric consensus-driven culture. Moving fast can be a challenge and empowerment in your role can be an issue. Most senior management hired externally, not a lot of opportunities to advance internally. Compensation not as competitive compared to other companies in the valley.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great culture, but the tech world is moving ever faster, Plantronics needs to figure out how to move faster with it. There are smart people at all levels, encourage more empowerment and provide a path for advancement to keep your high performers.

    Pros

Reverse commute for people on the valley side of the hill. Strong company financially that will continue to grow. Good benefits.

    Cons

Lack of real plan for the future. Too many people who have been there for a long time and aren't able to change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide an understandable road map for the future not just a bunch of buzz words.

I worked at Plantronics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

For the most part, employees are valued for their contributions. Perks and rewarding team and community activities are fun and inspiring. Good corporate social responsibility.

    Cons

In some ways employees are not valued, jobs are moved to areas less expensive to operate, an economic decision, but demoralizing,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If an employee MUST justify their existance, make it more transparent and purposeful, not some vague thing in the background that everyone has to guess, "Am I doing it right?" If the mission is to measure success, then by all means use the same yardstick on both sides of the table.
