I worked at Plexus full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The working environment is Friendly and the varied content of contract projects can be more interesting than companies with a small product line. Also, overtime is rare.

    Cons

Very few employees are over 40 and there is a focus on new college graduates. There is some pressure to move into management, which can be pro or con depending on what you like to do., equipment budgets are sometimes small, depending on the terms of customer contracts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Some "grey hair" is valuable.

Overall, a good place to work

I have been working at Plexus

    Pros

There is a lot of variety in the types of product and work that is done, which keeps people from being 'pigeon-holed' into a particular type of position within their field. The management is generally good and responsive. Within the engineering group, most of the managers are degreed engineers also, so it is easier to have technical conversations. The other people who work there make it a very enjoyable place to work.

    Cons

The work is not always cutting-edge technology. Also, promotions to higher level positions are based on opportunity based experiences - if you haven't been assigned by management to a project that helps you meet your objectives for a promotion, you will likely not get promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on ensuring that there is good quality work to keep the engineering staff engaged. Otherwise, there is a big risk of losing valuable employees.

    Pros

Good strategy, lots of growth, good people, strong leadership, good reputation in the industry, very nice locations, passion for success

    Cons

No real downsides in my opinion. Could be more focus on promotion from within, but that seems to be improving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue with current focus and strategy - it seems to be working well. Continue to communication vision to all employees.
