I have been working at Polaris Management Partners full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

While all age groups are represented, the company definitely has a younger vibe and energy about it. I think this is important for a nimble company like Polaris. Salary and benefits are good. Internal committees do a nice job with balancing fun activities (sometimes corny) with the work. Work engagements can be challenging but I always have the feeling that I'm in charge of the end result which is to say if you put the effort in, you're rewarded.

    Cons

Company still needs to do a better job integrating the two legal entities in terms of social interaction which translates to better professional interaction. I honestly think that some groups have no idea what another group does and this is a relatively small company. Maybe at the end of the day though, people just want to hang with people they like. No amount of forced social interaction is going to change that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember to listen to the non-billable people and encourage them to lead some internal meetings.

    Pros

Good compensation, decent benefits. Great company for designing your career. There is a lot of talent here and a lot of opportunities for learning.

    Cons

I do not know what a 40 hour work-week is. Or even a 50 hour work-week. Work load is continually added to. I spend a lot of time on administrative junk instead of fixing problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage your employee's work-life balance better.

    Pros

    - Fun place to work
    - Fun committee
    - Management is constantly working on process improvement.
    - Good learning opportunity and pay.

    Cons

    - There is no work life balance, since extra/weekend work is often.
    - There is always dirty politics going on, which makes two part of the company, business and technology. People waste time and energy in fighting within company to justify themselves, so there is no "one company" spirit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thanks for constant effort to improve process. Make the company one team, current incentives making people fight/compete within a company (it makes work stressful)

I have been working at Polaris Management Partners full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Lots of opportunity to learn and grow as a project manager, salesman, technology lead, functional lead, product lead, etc...
    2. Exposure to top-level executives and full transparency from sales through implementation.
    3. Complete accountability and ownership of your role, career, and project success.

    Cons

    1. Polaris is undergoing a lot of growing pains with business process and responsibility changes.
    2. Most likely will work late hours when its crunch time on projects, but the team is usually appropriately awarded for commitment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not applicable right now. Currently management does a very good job of listening to senior employee concerns and adjusting business processes to accomodate.

I have been working at Polaris Management Partners

    Pros

Small firm which allows exposure to clients and have a lot of responsibilities at an early stage. Large room for upward mobility if asked for.

    Cons

Not a lot of training involved at the company. People are expected to learn on their own and aren't given a lot of guidance unless asked for explicitly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to perform a better job during the hiring process to set expectations of the work/ life balance. Others become very frustrated while when the workload seems to be consistently more than expected.
