I have been working at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1 hour unpaid lunch break

    Cons

19k after taxes, terrible managment, the hours were from 10-7, stressful, no room for growth, expected to purchase clothes from Ralph Lauren and wear at all times despite not being given an allowance or any type of assistance. Desperate for new employees and will hire the most unqualified people to work there. Management favors the top seller in the store and will treat everyone else poorly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please hire 16-18 year old teenagers because these are the only type of people who can afford to make such little being a sales associate.

    A robot factory

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren

    Pros

They feed you good. Free coffee; and they trust you to pay for your own snakes. Vendors outside so you don't have to go out

    Cons

Worst place ever; treated everybody like robots. Not human there especially during Christmas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so hard on the temporaries, they are human to. Don't be quick to fire temporaries and during Christmas season don't work everyone until they can't stay anymore.

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I can't think of one good thing, well they give you earn time off but, you have to use that time to make up hour when they cut hours, so really you can't save them for vacation time away from this place. And you really need the time off sometimes because this Place DRAIN the life out of you.

    Cons

Scheduling, the schedule should be made a month in advance but it's a daily schedule changing by the hour, no Work life balance. the daily post and changing of the schedule have you where you can't interview if you'll looking for another job or if you need to go to the doctor and you will after all the HARD mental work this place does on you, at Ralph Lauren you don't have a life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Post a schedule a month in advance like stated in handbook and not change in every day. stop making people feel like they have to paid vacation time back just to get hours that have been taken from them. And give people lawful breaks.

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Your next employer will know the type of hell you went through and that you can now tackle any job.

You learn the tools to run a successful business (which you can use when you jump ship to a real luxury store)

    Cons

    Corrupt management.

Clueless buyers who never visit the store (and thus do not know what to buy).

    Poor structure.

No accountability (esp at management level).

Frequent, mandatory meetings at 8 AM which serve no purpose.

Stressful environment coupled with poverty level pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating your employees like they're children at school. Focus on facilitating business.

    Pros

Good design and company discount (but I will never buy their brand anymore)

    Cons

Very disorganized and superficial. I had the worst experience there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If the management kept treating people like they do now, I honestly think the brand will not last long. It still thinks it is a prestigious brand and lacks humility. I will not recommend anyone working for them.

I have been working at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Ralph Lauren sounds impressive to other people who have no idea what a terrible work environment it is.

    Cons

This place sucks horribly. Childrenswear can't seem to keep employees for long since it's such an awful place to work. The managers have no idea how to manage and will blame you for literally everything that isn't your fault. No one knows what they are doing. It is completely disorganized and everyone is rude. They only promote people they know personally/are friends with. They freak out if you are a minute late. There is no work life balance. They expect your life to revolve around them when they act like you're disposable and don't value you at all. No one has your back. Pays lower than other companies. No room for growth. Can't wait to get out of here.

I have been working at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good discount on RL clothing

    Cons

Culture of company is to just repeat what has been done in the past without thought or reasoning behind it. Adding value to the company is just not possible with current leadership. A few good people carry the weight of everyone else with no reward while the only way to get promoted is to either quit/have them think you are at risk, have some kind of nervous breakdown, or be close friends with the right people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give bonuses to all levels (not just Sr. Directors), let people really develop and rotate (if you are too valuable they will force you to stay in that role forever), see the writing on the wall and embrace change

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The discount was okay and there are a lot of talented wonderful people that work for the company.

    Cons

There is little to no appreciation for employees that work behind the scenes. All of the incentives and accolades go to the sales staff. Upper management was HORRIBLE! They make you do a thousand jobs and nepotism there is heavy. It is a very vein environment so if you don't fit their standard of beauty (blonde hair blue eyed, preferably male) then know you will be spending the rest of your time there being treated as second class. I've been told that if I have an opinion I should keep it to myself by upper management (verbatim). There is extremely high turnover and every time someone would quit or was fired they would take months to replace them leaving the rest of the staff overworked and underpaid. There was little to no advancement within the company especially if you did not fit into the visual status quo.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach your managers how to manage employees properly and how to talk to people. Pay your employees a proper wage. Recognize the talent you have and promote that talent. Thoroughly think things through before you execute them.
