I have been working at PolyOne full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

High minded goals from CEO - transform from commodity products to specialty solutions
    Good training opportunities (Six Sigma)
    Fantastic pay and bonuses

    Cons

Dull product line and tough to move away from nickel & dime commodity polymers
Management approach to people is toxic - very old school and manipulative. They preach collaboration and innovation, but it is every man for himself. Workforce is a weird mix of beat down old timers, MBA wonderkids, and obnoxious arrogant castoffs from other big polymer companys. Executive management lacks any real vision or ability to motivate. They could accomplish so much if they really figured out how to work collaboratively. They pay ridiculous bonuses every spring and you see a lot of good people who cash in and leave after a few years because it is just too demoralizing to work in that environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to clean house and encourage some of the 3rd floor execs. to move on and take their old school sales and people management methods into retirement.

Company cares only for profits. Employees are only "tools" to be blamed for management failures.

I worked at PolyOne full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great Salary, which is the only positive. You will earn it!

    Cons

Management is uncaring, incompetent and without a moral compass. You will work yourself to death here with zero thanks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that your employees are your best asset, not working capital

    Pros

Great pay. Good work/life balance for most groups. Lots of nice people.

    Cons

Supply Chain & Operations run by someone with an iron first - good luck getting any input on decisions. Other groups may have it better though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let go! You hire young, talented, creative people and you lose them because you stifle them.

    Pros

Excellent portfolio to offer customer base.

    Cons

Tough to do business with as each unit functions independent of each other.

I have been working at PolyOne

    Pros

    -Initiative is rewarded and encouraged
-Definitely no feeling of excess in the company - they run a very lean operation
-Good balance of managers and senior non-managers
-Great place to learn how to cut costs

    Cons

-treatment of and reliance upon contractors is appalling
-VIP/non-VIP class division is disturbingly overt
-If you would not fit into a desired mold as an employee, there is no hope of being hired permanently
    -corporate culture is very closed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some of your contractors, or at least pay them better. There will come a point at which cutting staff to the bone and maintaining a frozen corporate mentality will diminish morale and scare away talent.

I worked at PolyOne full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good pay and benefits,

some experienced long term employees. small manufacturing scale, know every one by name.

Most workers all share there experiences and help out.

    Cons

Systemic culture issues or lack of culture, management on a perpetual witch hunt, too lost in the ``point the finger`` etc... to see what is going on around them or to be effective good leadership.

    ``Honesty`` ,``Integrity`` ``Respect`` not here !

Work flow up and downs, short notice use your holidays up first..... or there`s no work next shift.

They can`t seem to get there own policies training and procedures straight, everything changes to suit the moment. `` Lack of integrity``

I`ve never seen a management group that unorganized and unable plan work with some fore
thought and insight considering the many years and experience with the same old equipment and set up. Fallow through or making any kind of meaning full decision for the future is a miss here. ``Dead wood``

No ``Aspri De Corps`` every one just works there. The bottom dollar aditiude is killing what

is soon to be dead equipment and resources. ``lack of respect``

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on the way your going and your problems will fix you.

``World Class`` is no were near what is going on here.

A full time active HR person, better hire two.

    (Translated from English)

    Pros

Universités très utiles, bon climat avec des niveaux d'organisation inférieurs

Very helpful colleges, good climate on lower levels of organisation

    Cons

Management worst ever, only focus on stock price and working capital.
No personal creativity, ideas, suggestions for improvements and new developments - simply blocked by management, cause it costs. Have no visions except rise of stock price.
Very long approval process via several levels of management kills everything.
Highly non-ethic behaviour against customers, suppliers and people working there; in contradiction to their own policy on the paper. People are not treated as humans by management and customers only to squeeze for higher margins.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce headcountof non-productive managers, only existing for themselves and hunting for bonus others at the front / machine / in contact with the customers are earning.
Ask the people why so many of them are leaving even with competition clausle !
