Current Employee - Operations Manager in Fairfield, OH

    Pros

high potential for max bonus but very hard to achieve, ability to manipulate your operational success if you work your reports strategically

    Cons

long stressful hours, not enough qualified seasonal help for the time you need them or the number of people you need. underpaid, customers do what ever they want and it makes it difficult to run smoothly based on their every need,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay field managers more, bonuses don't pay the bills nor can we count on maxing them out and we are working 50-60 hours a week 4-6 months out of the year. allow us more seasonal workers or allow them to start earlier and work longer throughout the year before we have to cut them loose. too much work to do with only the full time staff when seasonal workers aren't available. consider remodeling bonus structure for a monthly payout to ops mangers that are attainable. that would help motivate us to reach our goals on a monthly basis and help make up for a low salary.

    Pros

You're a decision maker and what you do influences the market. You get to help people run their companies and act as a consultant. Expense account.

    Cons

They do not pay you enough. There are opportunities for advancement, if you go where you are needed. Very demanding goals, and much of your performance is weather related.

    Pros

Here are my top three reasons I love working for Pool Corp:

    1. Motivated, Fun Loving, Professional and Driven Culture

Pool Corp is top notch company that takes itself seriously, but not too seriously. I love being able to use my MBA skills in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere.

    2. Career Paths and Places to Live are Unlimited

With close to 300 distribution centers in the continental United States, myriad more in nine other countries and our support center in Covington,LA there are so many career paths you can take without having to bounce around between companies. And there are so many options to choose where you want to live and work. This makes the quality of life amazing for me!

    3. Pool Corp Genuinley Cares About their Employees

PoolCorp provides excellent benefits and training oppotunities. They are always developing leaders and doing their best to provide us with exceptional advancement opportunities.

    Cons

There is only one downside that comes to mind. Since Pool Corp is an international company, many of the jobs available for advancement require relocation.

Current Employee - Sales Center Manager

    Pros

If you are willing to work the sky is the limit
    Travel opportunities
Quick advancement (manager of a million dollar store after 2 years)
Ability to live all over the country (300 locations)
    Great culture
    Casual work place

    Cons

The base pay is lower than average and if you are working in a market that isnt strong (yet) it can be tough to reach your bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Once someone has proved themselves please compensate them. It is crazy to lose a potentially life long employee over a few bucks a pay check

    Pros

You learn from the bottom up at the sales center location but gain an incredible amount of knowledge, training, and hands-on experience through our MIT training course.
