    Pros

    PoolCorp is an industry leader in the pool business, and the culture shows it! Friendly staff and employees, I honestly had to write this review so I could look at the other reviews I have never worked at PoolCorp! PC not only met my expectations but raised them.

    Cons

    None that come to mind.

    I have been working at PoolCorp full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Management training program (MIT) allowed for a smooth transition into a full time management posititon. The potential to learn multiple facets of the company, and how to manage personel, inventory, logistics, and finances.
    Jobs are available across the country and even internationally.
    The benefits are above par, with a growing welness program.

    Cons

    Summer seasonal work hours are a little long.

    I have been working at PoolCorp full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    You learn from the bottom up at the sales center location but gain an incredible amount of knowledge, training, and hands-on experience through our MIT training course.

    Cons

    During the height of the season, depending on your location, work is extremely intense. However, it's well worth it if you take the time to cultivate your work environment and well as building and growing your customer relationships.

    We are the best in the business. Let us show you how good we really are by letting us make the decisions that really need to be made that can make our business grow.

    If you are willing to work the sky is the limit
    Travel opportunities
    Quick advancement (manager of a million dollar store after 2 years)
    Ability to live all over the country (300 locations)
    Great culture
    Casual work place

    Cons

    The base pay is lower than average and if you are working in a market that isnt strong (yet) it can be tough to reach your bonus.

    Once someone has proved themselves please compensate them. It is crazy to lose a potentially life long employee over a few bucks a pay check

    I have been working at PoolCorp full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Manager in Training program is a great fit for recent college graduates.
    -Strong opportunities for advancement if you are a driven employee.
    -Personable management. From sales center level up to the top.
    -Work experience is great. You really have the opportunity to make an impact and your ideas are listened to at the branch level.
    -Good yearly bonus opportunities for managers.
    -Benefits package is good and has improved the past few years.

    Cons

    -Many pool and spa companies still operate like it is the 90's. You have to be very patient with customers and some vendors who at times may lack professionalism. (There are many exceptions to this though don't get me wrong)
    -Salaries are somewhat lower than you'd hope but you won't starve either.
    -Seasonality of the business can sometimes make for long days in season.
    -Fast paced warehouse environment. As a manager you must be able to deal with people from different backgrounds and figure out how to get the most out of your team.
    -If you want to wear business casual type clothes to work everyday this is not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    -I would give former MIT's a salary raise after 3 years of employment. This would help to retain talented managers and prevent them from looking around at other opportunities.

    Pros

    - World and industry leader in their field.
    - National company, able to relocate as desired.
    - MIT Program is a great leadership opportunity for a recent college grad.
    - Jeans and Sneakers to work.
    - Senior Management is apporachable, actually learns your name.
    - Large company, very small feel.
    - The employees like to let loose.
    - Company car, cell phone, etc.
    - Excellent insurance benefits.
    - Values-based selling philosophy.
    - Continued oppotrunity for internal training and development (Diamond Sales Certification).

    Cons

    - ERP system is out of 1975.
    - Being a publicly traded company can lead to some regulatory headaches.
    - On the lower-end of the $ based compensation.

    Customers can be a pain, yeah, but that's not unique to PoolCorp.

    Think about paying the former MITs a bit more, consider an update to SAP or GUI-based ERP system.

    I have been working at PoolCorp full-time

    Pros

    Great manager in training program that encompasses almost every aspect of the business, and gave me a chance to sling shot my carrer. Lots of room to move up and grow with this company as it continues to grow. The training includes great programs for marketing, sales of any product, presentations, and financial analysis.

    Cons

    Thus far the biggest complaint is the warehouse management software. It takes a while to get used to, even with the training program, but has been even more difficult to teach to new hires.
