    Ehhh..

    Collections Representative (Former Employee)
    Hampton, VA

ProsBonuses... And had a close team with cool ppl

ConsYour assigned a que or an account ( hopefully its not crappy) &have to build base thru solid paymnt plans in order to get to goal. Your goal increased each month. Upper management were like hawks.

Advice to Senior ManagementEvery one working at portfolio is over 18 so start treating employees with a little more respect.

    Horrible

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsOne of the larger employers in the area; cash cow

ConsNot employee friendly, poor salaries and no opportunities to advance

Advice to Senior ManagementThey should concern themselves with greater infrastructure.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    It's a job, not a career

    Collections Representative (Former Employee)
    Hampton, VA

ProsCo workers are helpful. My previous manager was awesome, then I was moved to a team that sucked.

ConsI will never work in collections again. If you can stand being mean to customers all day long, then this job is for you. Yes you can get big bonus checks but it is at the expense of ruining someone else. Everyone gets into hard time but this company does not care. All they want is for the customer to pay their bills. They train us not to care about the customer but to make them pay their bills. This company is right on the border of breaking FDCPA. We were trained to push the envelope.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop treating your employees like children. They are adults like you are and they don't deserve to be yelled at across the floor.

    Collections Representative (Former Employee)
    Jackson, TN

Prosgood money .. can make great montly bonus's . sit in front of a computer dialing a phone 8 hrs a day

Consmanagement .. i had a bad experience working for PRA .. i was a good collector but a manager decided he didn't like me. so i was fired for being to loud on a collection floor of 200 collectors. would i recommend this company to anyone looking for a job.. NO.. not at all

Advice to Senior Managementdon't fire someone thats making you money just because you don't like them personally.. are they really that bad.. or is it personal

Ok job, if you have no education!

    Account Representative (Former Employee)
    Norfolk, VA

ProsBonuses !Your commissions earning potential is unlimited, pto, benefits, co-workers, on site gym and cafeteria.

ConsMicromanagement, You get treated like your in grammar school, low wages, classless individuals, drama, you are only as good as your last payment collected, many managers shouldn't be managers. They are always hiring because they have a hire turn over rate.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop treating employees like grammar school kids. We understand that are purpose for being there is to collect money!

Stick to no harassment in the workplace!!!!

    Account Representative (Current Employee)
    Jackson, TN

ProsAt PRA, you can make some really great money. Bonus checks are given monthly and they help out alot!!! You will work for every penny of it though!!! You are constantly talking to a new person and having a different experience with each client, so the job never gets old!!

ConsThey don't take harassment serious enough. You only get your bonus check if you have 40 hours each week, if you fall even one minute short, BYE BYE BONUS!!! You also have to meet a certain quota before you get your bonus. You don't receive a bonus if you only collect a little bit of money. If your not persuasive, this job is not for you!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees and take action about it!! Quit lying to some clients about being able to sue on an out-of-stat account and quit lying about having solid proof about a current checking or savings account!!!!

You Will Work For Every Penny

    Account Representative (Former Employee)
    Newport News, VA

ProsI started off making 10.00 an hour for training and had no previous call center experience I was able to make a bonus for about three months. Guaranteed 40 hours a week with my own desk space. And daily competitions to win stuff like gas cards and gift certificates

Consthe schedule i worked was horrible 11am to 12 midnight and they are not understanding when it comes to calling out for ANY reason whether your husband just died kid got sick they do not care unless you have PTO and have previously requested time off they have unrealistic collections goals and expect you to ask really personal questions. I left before they fired me but the way they do it is really embarassing they basically throw you out and deactivate your badge this job is really stressful on the average person you have to clear your whole schedule for them and the gift certificates you get are deducted from your paycheck which really defeats the purpose

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement is really insensitive and unwilling to help you. Training only last for a couple weeks and they start you off in the middle of a month expecting you to collect a couple thousand dollars in debt

    No job security..

    Account Representative (Former Employee)
    Hampton, VA

ProsBonuses.....but u do have to meet a goal every month and will sometimes give away gift cards and other gifts

ConsDoesn't care to keep good employees...every rep has assigned accounts to collect money on and if you don't meet the goal or a percentage than it's a right up and you will eventually be terminated. Management needs a lot of work...can't say hello to own team members at times or have a work related conversation without upper management interfering like it's pre-school..what's the point of being on a team if you can't say anything to them...Alot of changes which comes along with a call center environment

Advice to Senior ManagementAct like you want employees to be their for longetivity..

    Good experience, poor compensation

    Legal Clerk (Former Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsI gained valuable knowledge working for their Litigation Department. Hands-on document production and developed understanding of civil case process.

ConsWith all that is expected of the Legal Clerks and demand for seemingly endless push to increase production for without increased incentives. Raises are rarely if ever given and no employee recognitions. Combined with relatively low-entry level starting pay the company does not value their employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementIncreased incentives, employee recognition.

    ghetto fashion show

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prosthe onsite cafeteria, on site gym, and other various perks and benefits

Consthe gossip makes it seem like its high school, no freedom

Advice to Senior Managementwhen you micro manage your employees, nothing ever gets done
