    Pros

stable industry, job security, Tonawanda site has easy access from anywhere in Buffalo, variety of career opportunities, onsite cafeteria/ credit union/ dry cleaning, sports clubs, standard workday ends at 4:45

    Cons

culture varies by departments, minimal cross training opportunities, lots of travel for some individuals, communication across departments is sometimes minimal

    Advice to Management

hire more so overtime is needed less, have better communication about the state of different areas of the business, create more opportunites for cross departmental job changes

    Pros

Very talented technical people to work with. Solid company for establishing a career. Management supports both career and personal growth. Management understands work/life balance - work hard, play hard

    Cons

Benefit package is overrated and terrible. Company maintains core focus on business, making changes to other areas slow to adopt. Project management adherence slows work execution.

    Advice to Management

Knock down the silos and walls so that work can be completed with less paperwork and reviews. Adopt newer technologies for next generation of workforce (collaborative / remote office).

    Pros

Praxair is a very innovative company that responds to the needs of its employees. Work - life balance is not only expected, but encouraged. There are many activities that employees are encouraged to participate in outside of the normal work day. At Praxair, everyone is considered part of the team.

    Cons

Overall the benefits at Praxair are above standard, however, Praxair could offer better health insurance to its employees. Currently the plan is very cumbersome and requires significant administrative effort on the part of the employee each time the insurance is utilized.

    Advice to Management

Improvement in communication between the many levels of management could go a long way in helping to align the goals of the Company. Including lower management in discussions with middle and upper management would significantly help to close the communication gap as they are the ones which deal with employees on a day to day basis.

    Pros

I have been with the Russian devision of the Company for 2.5 years so will be talking mostly about Russian team.
    - great working environment (interpersonal realtioships and team spirit are great, as well as the fact that lots of people I came acoss were real professionals)
    - smart management
    - challenging projects
    - perfect opportunities for career development (at least, when I was there)
    - good salaries (at least, when I was there)
    - opportunities to study and develop (lots of trainings and opportunities to exchange knowledge with other countries branches)

    Cons

Main con for me was work-life balance. Project Controls in Praxair is carrying lots of responsibilities, which on one hand a good thing for the professional development, but very time consuming on the other hand. In Praxair Rus this fact is known to the management and they were making up for it by team buildings and some flexible working time solutions when possible.

    Advice to Management

Hard to maintain the productiveness and motivation for yourself and the team, when there is no real compensation for the enourmous over-times. In my opinion introdicung paid over-time would improve the situation. Or at least an annual bonus for those who have to work long hours would help a lot.

    Pros

Inspiring culture. Culture of internal enterpreneurship. If you start and develop your own project - you will receive encouragement and resources. You see results done by yourself. If your results are good you will be noticed and get opportunities to grow and be developed.
Good team. Growth potential in Russia. Wise managers in BD / Gases. Encouraging managers in GSS.
Technical knowledge and technical decision-making is changing to good as company gains experience in Russian cuture.
Official salary, medical insurance incl. dental, corporate fitness, training programms etc.

    Cons

Somewhen unclear connections between departments or single employees in a team. That results in resposibility sharing and work overload.
The team is young and motivated but that causes lack of technical expertise sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Put more attention on inter-department interaction, it is often ineffective. Meet all memebers of international project team in person at least once.
Hire extra people to reduce everyday workload. Now it's challenging but physically you feel tired.
Grow technical expertise inside the country.
