    Pros

Most areas allow for a decent Work / Family balance. Obviously some times are busier than others, but I think that is the same for any employer.

Flexible scheduling and Work from Home capabilities.

    Cons

Benefits are mediocre especially given the fact that you work FOR the insurance company.

A lot of the work that you do is only being done because it is on an executive's bonus plan so that they get paid their bonus. Even if the work doesn't make the most sense it will still be done (and possibly reversed once it is done) so that line item can have a check mark on it as completed by the end of the year.

There is no Cost of Living increase in pay. There is an annual review and the raise if any is based on performance, or at least management's perception of performance. If you want to get a raise of any kind you pretty much need to apply for different positions and transfer around the company. This method also means that anyone that has been in their position for a long amount of time will be making less than a newly hired associate, as the overall pay matrix IS updated to reflect the market cost of living on an annual basis.

Because of the review process, it encourages employees to manipulate each other so that they themselves look better in the end.

    Advice to Management

Don't sit in your offices and just make decisions. Make sure that you take the everyday users and employees doing the work into consideration.

    Pros

The team members make this a great place to work.

    Cons

The management heavy politics and refusal to fund projects that need to be complete make this place a joke.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your associates. Do the right thing.

    Pros

Appreciated the low cost of family medical.

    Cons

    Everyone is in CYA mode

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to hire people that can make you shine. Too many of you are afraid someone might do better than you so you keep them in a box, lay them off or simply hire a less competent candidate.

    Pros

This is a place where you work hard and learn a lot of new things, at least at some departments. I see a lot of internal hiring so there are opportunities to grow, just not very quickly.

    Cons

Work-life balance is not good because of how much is expected of you. Benefits are not the best, not many rewards or company outings. Although, a Vision benefit is very good.

    Advice to Management

    Be more proactive and innovative.

    Pros

If you are a driver and you want to lead there is opportunity. Work life and home life has a decent balance.

    Cons

Once you decide to lead then you have bureaucracy that will drag and hinder you. Young management that does not understand how to motivate and lead. Progress is slow due to too many projects without good coordination, leadership is lacking, turn over of personnel is high. Technology is behind, tools are fairly up to date.

    Advice to Management

Get a strong middle management that understands how technology should be put together and communicate clearly how that should be done.
