Could not get my licensed process

Financial Advisor (Former Employee)
Buffalo, NY

I worked at Primerica as a contractor for less than a year

ProsOffer an opportunity for the entrepreneurial minded

ConsAfter passing my exam in 3 weeks, I spent the next 3 months waiting for the license to be processed, even though New York State insisted I was ready to start. Huge stress case. Incredible waste of my life.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your logistics people in gear.

SCAM. Stay away and find a real job.

Financial Advisor (Former Employee)
San Antonio, TX

I worked at Primerica as a contractor for less than a year

ProsThey promise you all this paid training and vacations.

ConsYou don't have any leads or clients you have to sell only to people you know. All the money being made is just from you recruiting people to the company. It's stupid and they are really fake its almost scary.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop this pyramid scheme and be a real insurance company.

Expect to put a lot of time and some money with no return, and listen to a lot of cheerleading for a lot of hard work.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
San Diego, CA

I worked at Primerica as a contractor for less than a year

ProsFlexible hours, good potential income for a very select few.

ConsThey will recruit you hard and promise the sun and moon. And just maybe you may make some money after harrassing every friend, relative, former co workers, and ANY one else you know. That is basically how that train you to get your leads. You can easily burn some bridges spinning their sales pitch on people that will avoid you like the plague after sitting through a 2 hour pressure sales meeting. This job cost me money every month with various mandatory memberships, so expect to fork out some money, again mandatory.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't hire people just to use all of their contacts.

A learning experience!

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Primerica

ProsI did learn a lot about P&C, life insurance, annuities, and mortgage industry.

ConsThey focus on "building your business" by recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. Recruiting is their client list - sell to the recruit and run through their warm market selling them anything they can under the guise of having to own the product to do a good job of selling the product. This is a money pit! Their products are mediocre at best, they pay minimal commish so they can pay at least six generations deep.

The place where careers go to die

Software Analyst (Former Employee)
Duluth, GA

I worked at Primerica full-time for more than 3 years

ProsCo-workers are by and large pleasant. Lots of opportunities for charity fundraising, if that's your thing.

ConsDevelopment is on outdated technology/platforms. Management DOES NOT want to hear that their plan is flawed. Promotion via nepotism/tenure rather than merit. Technical departments are managed by people with ZERO technical experience. Constant pressure to meet internal charity fundraising goals by giving back portions of your paycheck.

Advice to Senior ManagementSweep out anybody in management that doesn't have legitimate technical experience, stop developing for the bottom-feeders of technology.

Lack of integrity

District Manager (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Primerica as a contractor for less than a year

ProsIf you know a lot of people, you have an opportunity to make a lot of money.

ConsYou may work with people with no ethics who are scam artists. They may want to teach you their scams for you to make money. It's a multi-level marketing company.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave consequences for bad business practices. You say you don't support them, but when speakers talk about them as a part of life at big training meetings, something is seriously wrong.

Worse job I have ever had

Sales Trainee (Current Employee)
Dallas, TX

I have been working at Primerica part-time for less than a year

ProsMake your own hours, that is about all

ConsThis position is a joke, multi-level marketing at its best. Coming out of college this company has a great sales pitch but turnover rate is ridiculous. I would make my culture and values rating negative if I could. Reading through the reviews its funny that all the 5 star ratings come from the regional managers who are trying to suck you in. There are other more reputable companies out there, do not waste your time with this one.

Advice to Senior ManagementChoose a new business stategy.

Good if your great at sales, but very sneaky practices

Senior Representative (Current Employee)
Pikesville, MD

I have been working at Primerica part-time for less than a year

ProsBecome licensed as a life insurance sales agent, can get investments license. If you are good at sales there is potential to make money.

ConsSneaky practices. Recruit people through weekly meetings that make the job seem really easy to make a ton of money. Ask you to call your close friends and family and not tell them anything about what you are selling but just that its something great and they need to sit down with your manager and he will explain everything They say its not a multi level marketing structure but it is. Money you make is all about the number of sales you can make and the number of people under you who you have recruited and the sales you make.

Advice to Senior ManagementShould make it clear what the job actually is and what skills are actually required and give people the proper training. You just recruit anybody regardless of there background or skills because in the end you know you can just use their connections for possible sales leads.
