    So many hours.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe pay is above par, and my co workers are the best guys.

ConsI've worked so many hours in my years at printpack and now they change to a 3/2 shift. They're are now taking your opportunity to make OT away. Giving you 8 hours for holidays when you work 12. Giving you 8 hours pto when you work 12. This company is strictly for the bottom line. If you have a family and you're not on 1st shift don't work here. You need to be young and single or have your kids grown.

Opportunities, Egos, High Potential often Wasted

    Professional (Current Employee)

ProsMany opportunities if you are willing to put yourself out to try different vocations, and expand your marketability

    Supports continuous learning and growth.

Family ownership is approachable and has strong family values.

Good processes, and potential to be great. Have demonstrated it repeatedly in a few plants, and occasionally in others.

    Some very strong mentors.

ConsAllowed those in upper management to make suspect personnel decisions (ego)--putting people in positions where success is a long shot. (some of these decision makers are now gone, so maybe that will change)

Most professional growth requires relocation, even if opportunities are available at your location, or even if the function could be managed from anywhere with the technology available.

Does not put appropriate pressure on plant management to take actions to be successful. High potential plants wallow in mediocrity.

Too much rejection of ideas if "not invented here".

Advice to Senior ManagementToo much power in local Plant Managers' hands. Allowed to run over others in leadership, have year after year after year of low performance, take little action, and still are seemingly held in high esteem. Kills morale of associates and financial opportunities for plant associates and company.

Some of the company teams are good in concept, but really accomplish little to nothing, because there are no checks on the plants and the teams to carry forward improvements. Nice to get together, but a waste of money and opportunity.

    Great Learning Experiance

    Lead (Current Employee)

ProsPay and benefits are great. Co-workers will look out for your safety, good cohesion on the floor.
Corporate has the best intentions for their employees.

ConsDisconnect from the production floor and plant leadership team. Support departments lack the understanding to function in tandem with the floor.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have a wonderful vision, sometimes the individuals you choose to bring it to pass are not the best. This part is not advice, I do wish you the best.

Good company as long as you keep your head down

    Engineer (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsPrintpack Associates are some of the best people I have worked with during my career. A majority of the people in the company are intelligent and professional. The benefits at the company appear to be deteriorating as time goes. I expect the bonuses will be the first to go.

ConsThe company's associates in upper management with experience over 15 years tend to mute instead of encourage any voice that might make the company truly exceptional. As was mentioned in earlier posts, keep your head down and don't try to stand out. Most positions are filled based on who knows who, and less on experience and ability. Work life balance in some departments is a joke.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend some time on the plant floor to find out what is really going on.

    Family Values Missing

N/A (Current Employee) Prescott Valley, AZ

ProsA great company to work for, with great benefits. If you work hard it pays off with promotions, raises, good evals. etc. I enjoy working for Printpack, and I am greatfull to be a part of this company.

I am not sure why this company does not involve family at all, except for once a year at the Christmas Party? Most large companies have picnics, and a variety of other family oriented gatherings through out the year! I really do believe that I and others would not be aware of so many affairs going on with married employees, dating single, or other married employees! if we had family times so that every one could get to know one anothers family members too! And it might make it more difficult to do that to a family member that you have met and see what a nice person they are! Also why dont we have a no dating policy with employees or with-in, the company, Some in Mgmt. are unaware that this is really out of controll! Family Morals, Values and Respect is so important!
Please read my coments above, I am really trying to help, with this and it is and has been a hidden crises for several years!

The Love Family is great but the companies upper level management leaves lot to be desired

Corporate Employee (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsMost of the employees at Printpack are good ethical people that work with a high sense of ethical values and the desire to help others. I have amny frinds at the company which I still keep in touch with eventhough I left many years ago. In general I enjoyed the many years I worked there and the work was very satisfing. If you are the type of employee that just want to keep your head down and not create waves this is the place for you. If you are looking to make a difference and are willing to speak up look elsewhere.

ConsAlthought the Love family owns the company there is a core of upper management that actually runs the business and they believe its theirs to do as they wish. Many in this core group will break rules and show favoritism to those few that are willing to praise them for their terrible business decisions. There is a rampage sense of entitlement where managers thing they work as "Microsoft" or "Apple" and employees or other business must bow to their managerial demands. Although this message sounds biased there are were toomany instances where management behaved unethically just to protect their own self interest.

Advice to Senior ManagementDennis, remember what your father stood for and what he want Printpack to be. Clean house and get rid on those few terrible apples that are spoling the rest.

Be careful what plant you are hired in

Electronic Technician (Former Employee) Villa Rica, GA

ProsThe company overall at one time was a great place to work, the pay levels are probably some the best in the industry for a non union plant.

ConsIt is very hard to advance on skills alone, there are a lot of politics involved in working there and most promotions are based on the buddy system.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement does not pay enough attention to what is really going on in the plant and do not seem to care what goes on unless it affects production.

Solid company, with some areas that need improvement.

    Manager (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsIt is a stable environment, they take care of their people. You don't see a lot of cut-throat practices. If they like you, they will keep you even if they don't have a position for you immediately. They'll continue to pay you while they find you a more appropriate position to match your skills.

It is a very family oriented enviornment. Family definitely comes first with Printpack.

Although they have their share of "challenging" resources, there are a ton of nice, friendly people that work there at all levels. In general people will go out of their way to help you out.

The annual bonuses aren't too bad when they have a good year.

ConsMiddle management is suspect, and they are often penny wise/pound foolish. In fairness however, I have been told they have recently done a salary comparison to their industy competitors and are on the road to making ammeds with regards to market value for salaries.

The gap between the "have's" and "have not's" is considerable...There is also a lot of dead wood that could use cutting. The company could beenfit from a few ax men or women reviewing each department's staff. They keep people they shouldn't but won't hire for positions they should staff. Their attempts to do more work with less people is legendary among employees. Everyone knows a story about someone who now covers 2 or 3 key positions after the other 1 or 2 people quit.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more interim goals for employees to attain and consider quarterly or semi-annual bonuses. Although the annual bonuses are pretty decent, when there is a good year, it is a LONG time to wait for another one. The decoupling of reviews and raises/bonuses is also a little wierd too.
