    Pros

Growing business. Good location. Seems to be working I projects to make the job easier.

    Cons

There isn't enought time set aside for training. The tools are not there to feel confident in your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training is key. Please do not lose sight of the fact that training is important and employees need to feel like they have the tools to succeed.

    Pros

The people around the yard were good to work with, very willing to help out each other.

    Cons

The issue I had was a lack of any type of urgency on the customers behalf. The customer would be taken care of, eventually.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on the smaller customers, as they will bring in the larger ones.

    Pros

Very friendly co-workers environment. Monthly bonuses for all if goals achieved was the best thing, which naturally created team spirit.

    Cons

No clear vision, mission statement, changing leadership, low employee retention.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supervisor's attitude towards employees could be much more supportive and understanding.

    Pros

promotions with in the company are slow from lower positions. Management moves around a lot, Pay is low but checks always are good.

    Cons

pay raises are almost impossible to get and pay rates are very low. Management only cares about the bottom line. Communication is very lacking

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your drivers more encouragement and pay them for the job that they preform.

    Pros

Some great people are employed by Probuild. The problem is that there might be to many of them.

    Cons

Seldom follow through with financial commitments to associates. Executive management always has the best intentions. They just aren't in place long enough to see it through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bigger isn't always better.....better is better

    Pros

it is a large company with great benifits. If in a branch with a good manager you should be able to excel.

    Cons

To corporate like. It is hard to get an answer to questions. You feel like you and others can't make a decision on your own that you know is right.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share knowledge. Don't be afraid to let people learn in fear that they will know as much as you on how things work. Doing that makes employees feel like they are not living to thier potential and are just drones working only to the level you set.

I have been working at ProBuild full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Can be very rewarding in sales, if you are able to land a big account or two. Some locations have great people and teams.

    Cons

Thin margin line ensures we will always hire the cheapest person available and provide the bare minimum training to do the job, resulting in headaches when unqualified people make bad decisions. Then they get fired or quit and we hire... the cheapest person available, and provide minimal training to them...
Sales should spend more time politicking with management to pick up accounts rather than prospecting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better GM's. I worked for the same fantastic GM twice, would follow him in a heartbeat if he left. Ive had 4 really bad, not qualified GMs as well, all are gone, did more damage than good.

    Pros

This company has a lot of pros but the strenght actually comes from the employees at each location and they are the glue to this company.

None that I would like to mention

I have been working at ProBuild full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great group of core employees - - Rob Marchbank seem to understand what needs to be. done. There have been some morale boosting efforts Some changes on the horizon that should make things better at corporate and in the field .Some management is awesome although still top heavy.

    Cons

There isn't enough communication -in some instances not enough help for what needs to be one and rarely is appreciation really shown from management . Have heard managers and supervisors talk about their bonus while in over 5 years there has been less than a 2% raise for hourly. Some management is never there and others are over worked to the point you hate to bother them with day to day issues and questions. It is still very political within the corporate office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to review job descriptions and compensation in some areas as well as workloads . Some supervisors and managers need to be re-trained on how to deal with employees and learn to lead by example rather than intimidation. The communications with the field and corporate could be better as it could be better even within corporate to departments and some department down to employees.
