I worked at Publix part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great corporate culture and great people to work around. They focus heavily on customer service and going out of your way for the customer. If you want to learn a new area, or move into another department, they are very accommodating. Management adheres to an open-door policy and make an effort to get to know you one on one. Customers start to become dear friends - almost like family, after a while. I grew up at Publix and I'm blessed to say so.

    Cons

Pay's not phenomenal, but better than working other places with same scale.

I worked at Publix part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They have very good teamwork aspect both with the associates and management. One of the only places around these days that really teaches it's employees that manners, and focusing on the customer, as person and not as only a profit, is one on the reasons it is so successful.

    Cons

Strict Adherence to schedule and in/out time clock. Do not hire full-time employees unless you are management. Make you work like a crazy, pretty much be there slave( You know if some one calls out and they ask you, you had better not say no,because that's not very helpful to the company.Oh, and as a part-time employee they can work you if I remember correctly around 32 or 35 hours for like 2 weeks in arrow until the get some email from district saying that they have to cut your hours back or you will have to be made full-time because legally they can only work you for so many weeks in arrow with that many hours. Doesn't matter if you have kids and and family. You work what ever hours they give you and don't complain. And, don't you dare be late or no full-time for you.) Oh, and when you finally get full-time that's when the fun really starts. Because then they can work you as much as they want crazy hours and as soon as you hit your 40 hour mark "GO HOME! Didn't I tell you to go home hours ago? Yes ..But then you told me to do this, ..this, ..this,.. and this,..."

    Pros

Great pay, family like company, great benefits for full timers. PT must wait to work I think about 1000 hours before they qualify for benefits.

    Cons

Will work you to death! 8.5 hrs no lunch. Step up and say something or it will go on .....retail is a beast if your new to it, be prepared for anytime scheduling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Good Company to work for. Decent benefits if you stay with the company but not much more than minimum wage if it's temporary.

    Cons

No real complaints. I was never on the corporate side so I can't speak to that. But I liked my managers and they treated me fairly so all in all a good experience.

    Pros

Outstanding Benefits package. Solid company experiencing strong growth.High level of standard held toward providing great customer service experiences within clean , organized , and well maintained stores.

    Cons

They have a wide array of training and development resources for their associates but are rarely backed up by any real on hand training. Upward promotions are slow to come.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your associates are what make Publix succcessful. Invest time in them and reap long term results for all.
