    Pros

You meet some really great people at Publix, even if a lot of them are only temporary, perhaps you are too. Gives people something to bond over. Due to my work ethic, I was pushed into a role bordering full-time and was offered a path into learning management should I ever return. It was nice to be thought of and recognized for my hard work. And they'll recognize you a lot if you put in the effort

    Cons

Scheduling was rough as it changed every single week and you only got your schedule 2/3 days before the week started so making plans two weeks out was impossible. Don't let anyone try to tell you that the deli isn't the most involved Publix position.

    Pros

You learn to take pride in your work and instill really great customer service skills that will help you with any future jobs. Very friendly, supportive management, manager made sure to check what days everyone needed off before making the schedule, some benefits are available even to part time employees. They also allow you to transfer between stores, which is a nice pro if you move somewhere so that you'll still have a steady income. A good chunk of the favoritism was cut down on by the sheer frequency that they rotate out managers between stores.

    Cons

At my location, our customer base was very seasonal so we were incredibly understaffed when it came to scheduling and holiday hours. I frequently asked for less hours and was overloaded with work anyway, despite there being others in my department who were denied hours so they wouldn't become full time workers. It's my understanding that cashiers were overstaffed and never able to get enough hours. Wish starting pay had been higher, I would have stayed longer, but what are you gonna do?

    Advice to Management

This is directed more at higher ups, but there should be a less rigorous process for those who want to work full time. I worked with people who had been at Publix over three years working two hours below what was required for full time benefits, and it really hurts those who are working hard for you and need the rewards.
