I have been working at PwC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great culture - supportive Partners and Directors who help staff develop.
Excellent opportunities to "move around" in the firm through rotations, tours, etc. (including international).
    Challenging technical work.
    Exposure to large clients.

    Cons

Large amount of administrative work is handled by staff (i.e., Associates and Sr. Associates).
Need to "do more" than simply one's job well to advance (i.e., participate in "extracurriculars").
Pay can vary dramatically between staff members of same grade with identical education.

I have been working at PwC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great brand
    Strong strategy
    Bold management team
    Make great friends
Enjoyable company outings, that are regular
Career progression is directly tied to performance(can't speak to more senior levels)
    Diverse colleagues

    Cons

Pay is below market - they will try their best to convince you otherwise, but it is below market
Once you are in and assigned to a group, there is no leaving you are stuck
Sometimes do not get the strategy engagements and end up playing in the lower level stuff
Not a lot of partner time for junior staff

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace flexibility with junior staff on projects
Listen to junior staff when talking about career growth, not just the next project you want to put them on.
No partner circles at company outings

I worked at PwC full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great learning opportunity to see a lot of deals and learn some skill sets (excel / ppt) that are highly recognized in finance.

    Cons

Be prepared to work investment banking hours at an accountants compensation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase compensation - turnover will decrease if you pay more in line with bankers and transaction based consultants.

I have been working at PwC full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

PwC is really pushing flexibility with your schedule, as well as making big strides in new technology, considering we're "Going Google" here at PwC and moving to the Google cloud and email for our work. PwC is also great at supporting women in their careers. Love the exposure to big clients and having PwC on the resume.

    Cons

Some difficulty with work-life balance for a young professional without a family but teams and higher up managers are getting better and better with flexibility

I worked at PwC as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Substantial and engaging work; seniors very helpful and supportive - felt very comfortable talking to them.

    Cons

Firm almost too big -- felt very disjoint from people in the office that I did not work with.

I have been working at PwC full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

We provide you to grow as an expert early in your career instead of a generalist model that other consulting firms apply.

    Cons

Due to such a business model, it may be difficult to get exposure to many different industries.

    Pros

Provides great opportunities after you leave public accounting and the culture was pretty relaxed.

    Cons

Long hours, long nights, long weekends.

I have been working at PwC full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

What keeps me coming back to work every day is the people I work with in Transaction Services. They're great people. Everyone is highly intelligent and maintains similar interests in the market. I also enjoy doing the business development work which isn't present in other groups.

    Cons

The pay. By far and away the biggest issue with Transaction Services is the pay. You're always going to get less than you think you should be getting. Your hours will be a bit better than auditor hours (no busy season thank god) and your pay will be essentially identical to an auditors despite doing deal-based work and having bill rates triple those of an auditor. It's insulting to sit at the table with the bankers and lawyers and know they're being paid at least 50% more than you are.

PwC also generally insists on a 3-year promotion cycle despite the rest of the financial world operating on a 2-year promotion cycle. Titles are just titles, what matters is pay which you will be forever disappointed with at PwC.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay the people what we're worth. If our bill rates are 2-3 times those of auditor bill rates, how can you justify paying us just a thousand or two more than an auditor?

    Pros

With PwC there are great opportunities to grow your career in the way you want. Although the hours are usually more than your standard 40 hour week, the longer you stay the more benefits you received in the long-term.

    Cons

There is not as much free time with friends and family. Also, there isn't much disconnect from the company when you schedule to take off for vacations.
