Employed in a temporary position, enjoyed the work environment, especially the coworkers

Temporary Claims Systems Associate (Former Employee) Sun Prairie, WI

    ProsEnjoyable coworkers
    Potential for growth within company.
Standard work week was 37.5 hours
    Nice campus
Pretty relaxed atmosphere. Often could wear jeans on Fridays.

ConsSlow to change due to large size of company
Project had multiple delays that could have been prevented with more realistic deadlines or better interdepartmental communication

Advice to Senior ManagementMy manager always seemed too busy. Better communication between different departments could have prevented problems that occurred with project.

Good company even through many changes

Claims Customer Care (Current Employee) Chandler, AZ

ProsPay, benefits, work hours, location all good. Good opportunities for advancement, family friendly environment, great managers and supervisors. Relaxed attire.

ConsComputer systems are new but the platform is horrible, I have to come in 15 minutes early each day just to log into all of the different systems we use. While this issue is being taken care of at some point in the future it's taking a long time to resolve. Some jobs are being outsourced or outplaced and my particular department has not yet been notified of changes which makes it kind of hard on us.

I have worked for QBE for 3 years

Quality Analyst (Current Employee) Chandler, AZ

ProsHigh change-oriented and fast paced management environment. Compared to other industries, QBE offers a challenging, risk-tolerant and demanding workplace. In general, there is a high degree of flexibility to do work anywhere and at anytime; especially outside of the standard M-F 8-5 structure. Compensation is generally comparable to market for most positions.

ConsLike any company, there is a mix of good and poor leaders. Currently, there is significant turnover. The company is led by executives who struggle to maintain consistent direction, attention and priorities. The Company does not value employees and needs to weed out the dead weight.

Advice to Senior ManagementNothing at this time.

Frank's doing good but the jury is still out on Peter.

Underwriting (Current Employee) Sun Prairie, WI

ProsThe people. This is, by far, the friendliest company I have ever worked for. The people and the agents i deal with are professional and all work towards one goal - to be the best at what we do. No matter what the job is.

ConsThe pay seems to be below market value. I've spoken to counterparts and they are making more money. Much more money! This is the most disappointing thing about this company. It seems they don't value the 'front line' employees. They cater to the back office employees which is frustrating. Not to say that their job is not as important as ours but without the front line people you don't need a back office. At the end of the day this is a relationship based business and if we don't have the relationships - we don't get the business.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to decide what type of company we are. They need to communicate a better vision and steer us towards that vision. it seems we are a ship floating adrift.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
