I worked at QVC part-time for less than a year
Pros – Employee discounts, nice cafeteria, easy commute. I met some nice folks on my shift. Solidarity among the reps despite the pressure.
Cons – Constantly shifting goals and targets. Humiliation of having to log the amount of time you spend in the bathroom. And yes, there is a special code for the bathroom. Training was inadequate, especially the live mentored training.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't worry about my bladder and aspire to fairness. Make the call times longer and don't make goals a moving target. You will garner more respect with fairness than with duplicity.

I have been working at QVC full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Basically it's a comfortable company to work for. Nice building, lots of perks.
Cons – If you are an hourly employee, you are totally screwed. I have watched exempt people get salary adjustments based on their grade level being modified, equity adjustments, bonus adjustments, but the "worker bees" get nothing. If you are over your grade level, you don't get a raise - it's been over 3 years since I have had a raise. They force you to leave the company or post out for a position you may not even want to potentially make more money. Also, a many of the newer, younger employees are stuck-up, self absorbed and will throw you under the bus if you don't watch out. I would love to meet their parents.
Advice to Senior Management – You are going to lose a lot of great people who have been with the company for a long time if you don't start looking at these issues - or maybe that's what you want....Stop spending money on "music" in the hallways and give your employees raise. I don't see the QVC values in action at all.

I have been working at QVC part-time for more than 10 years

Cons – upstairs has no clue as to what downstairs has to do to put on a successful program

I worked at QVC full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – QVC does a great job recruiting good people. I worked with some really talented people.
Cons – Unfortunately all the talented and good people end up leaving because of the arrogance of leadership, in particularly in the HR group. I saw some really good people leave in that department. Many of the SVP and VP's throughout the company lack ethics and the HR team is more aligned to them than being neutral.
Advice to Senior Management – When are you going to replace the HR group or minimize their influence? They put together good looking programs, but they all wilt on the vine before they are off on another project. Get rid of the "girls club" in HR as well.

I have been working at QVC full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Job security
Decent pay
Years of tenure are respected in the sense that lower management don't bother employees too much
Employee discount (10% electronics-30% everything else)
Cons – A dead end job without opportunities for advancement
Who you know is what it matters
Constant adjust to new supervisors and managers
Advice to Senior Management – Some are good leaders, some have no idea, but after several years invested there, they do whatever they want and don't listen to employees' needs.

I have been working at QVC
Pros – My peers at QVC make my days more enjoyable. Been able to foster some great relationships with colleagues. Vacation time is pretty average, but taking vacation is difficult to do because of the workload demands.
Cons – Senior Management struggles with setting forth clear direction. The culture at QVC is one of constant chaos, because the direction/priorities from above is always changing. There are perks to working for larger companies, but this place is so big, they tend to get in their own way. Be prepared to wait awhile for career growth opportunities. There's little to no succession planning.
Advice to Senior Management – Need some assistance with decision-making... Also needs to put great leaders in management roles instead of wasting talent.

I worked at QVC
Pros – it is an innovative and exciting company - there are some very good people working there trying to do very good things.
Cons – It is all in who you know. If you laugh and hang out with the high school behaving HR in-crowed .. you'll be successful. It's like the mean girls club .... if you don't 'look' like them ... you're out.
Overall - it appears management doesn't like African Americans ..... it's hard to believe there are so few with the skill set for mid to sr level jobs.
Advice to Senior Management – dig deep... don't accept the surface talk around the subject answers. Hold people accountable for being direct and having solid reasons for how they treat people.

I worked at QVC
Pros – Great benefits.
Good pay.
Good resume builder.
Interesting day to day work (very different from traditional retail).
Nice Location.
Cons – Middle management is promoted on tenure and not ability to do the job. The majority of middle management has zero people skills.
The environment is very difficult in terms of trusting others. Fellow employees and middle management throw each other under the bus for advancement and this culture is encouraged.
If constructive criticism is given the individual is considered "negative" and only positive feedback is acceptable; very "pleasantville" despite this most employees in this area are miserable but stay for the benefits and because they have not worked anywhere but QVC.
Advice to Senior Management – Reevaluate culture.
If "assuming innocents" and wanting to hear feedback is a priority do not simply teach classes about it (the QVC diffrence).
Implement it by not rewarding back stabbing and lack of people skills with promotions.

I worked at QVC
Pros – Benefits, pay, employee discount, 24/7 well known large company
Cons – Management, inexperienced employees, too many politics, no room for vertical growth
Advice to Senior Management – Hire people who know what they're doing and how to manage. People who run online marketing have never worked outside the company and have zero outside viewpoints. They're have narrow-minded and yet are in charge of hiring new people. They end up hiring people who don't know what they're doing. Department is tense. No one looks happy to be there.

I have been working at QVC
Pros – discount
never boring
decent benefits
nice workplace
laid back casual wear within the company
Cons – no work like balance
they suck the life out of you
politics within the company - a lot of poor managers in merchandising that strong assistant buyers carry for half the amount of pay as a buyer.
Advice to Senior Management – more people within merchandising, more defined roles - listen to you employees - put them where they want to be, they will work harder!
