I worked at Quad/Graphics as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Great experience, intern retreat to Wisconsin, shadowed all positions to gain understanding of the company as a whole, was given a mentor that was very helpful, paid internship

    Cons

No one knew what they were supposed to show me when I shadowed them and I also had no responsibilities or projects of my own.

    Pros

Great place to learn the industry and opportunity for growth. I feel like my contributions were recognized. Very friendly people who work there.

    Cons

I wish they could offer more flexible working arrangements for non production staff. It is nice that they offer on site day care, but having the ability to work for home would have been very appealing for professional staff.

I worked at Quad/Graphics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

People are great to work with, they are friendly and my team made me feel like family. I didn't mind the Quad blues either, I liked having separate clothes for work. The work I did involved working by myself most of the time, but when I needed help/advice my team was always there to give me input.

    Cons

The main reason I left the job was because of the Quad culture. I am a software developer and couldn't work from home at all, because of the Quad culture. My drive to work was far and eventually that was why I burned out and had to find a different job.

    Pros

Quad has great benefits, great salary, 401k, and paid vacation.

Their really isn't much to say bad about the company except they are closing our plant before we got to reap the benefits of being Quad.

    Pros

Quad is a good company if you are hired in directly by them. Training and Safety are top notch.

    Cons

Being brought in to Quad as an employee by an acquisition is tough. The culture of the company does not engender it to people who do not start their career with them.

I have been working at Quad/Graphics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Overall Quad is a great company that does well by its employees. Lots of opportunities for those who are willing to work hard and do their part. The company is still family controlled and that helps take some of the knee jerk Wall Street reactions out of play.

    Cons

Its a challenging industry and the company has had to do some things to stay competitive that make it tough at times. Probably not a whole lot different than anywhere else in this economy,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I see personal growth and development as an issue for the company. As the company has focused on staying competitive in a difficult industry they have at times forgotten to engage and grow employees.
