    Solid place to work

Software Engineer Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsColleagues are smart and hardworking. There is alot of collaboration and everyone is willing to help others out. Additionally, San Diego is a great city to work in.

ConsSpace was kind of cramped during my internship. Did not get an office or cubicle, instead got a desk that was kind of just in the middle of the hallway (think receptionist's desk)

    Quite good and stable

Interim Engineering Intern (Current Employee) Bedminster, NJ

Prosgood work environments: free drink and fruit; office is fully equiped and quite large
colleagues are nice, people like to communicate on work and cooperate well
working tasks are interesting, combining communication and hardware design

ConsThere are few public traffic to company site. So it would be very inconvenient without a car.
There is a canteen in the building, but it closes in the afternoon so only lunch and breakfast is available.

My experience was challenging, exciting and rewarding with lots of scope to learn and contribute.

Interim Engineering Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsVery smart people and great work culture.
    Good benefits and compensation.
    Sufficiently challenging and interesting projects.
    Enough opportunity for growth.

ConsStaffing personnel not the most professional at times.
Less than desired documentation and support.
Significant amount of bureaucracy in organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementHR/Staffing could be more professional in their work.
Compensation could be reconsidered to be best in industry than just being competitive at maximum.

    Great Benefits, Excellent Place

Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

    ProsGreat perks
    Smart People
    Cool San Diego
    State-of-the-art technology

ConsAlthough it is a great place to work, bureacracy rules big time. Everything gets delayed, since there is a lot of hierarchy

Advice to Senior ManagementInitiate recognition and rewards for outstanding employees. re-organise the hierarchy with less or no bureaucracy. More work-life balance needed, since most employees spend time in office.

Great Company but work is a little simplistic

Engineering Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsAwesome pay, paid housing for interns, lots of events and chances to get to know other interns and full-time employes

ConsWork is not challenging, not enough work, too much time to get ramped up and get basic tools (VS etc.), Had to make my own work

Advice to Senior ManagementHave work ready for interns before they show up so that they are not bored/have nothing to do

Full of smart people who are highly knowledgeable in wireless communications

Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsThere's a reason why Qualcomm is often listed in Best Places to Work surveys. Management makes sure to listen to employee concerns, needs, and wants, in order to improve working conditions as well as work-life balance. At times, they are even proactive about introducing new ideas to make working at Qualcomm better.

Not only that, working at Qualcomm gave me the opportunity to work with and learn from very smart and experienced people in the field of wireless communications. Since many of these people are the pioneers in the field, I was able to get a sneak peek at upcoming technologies--and everybody was open and willing to share with me. People (even some quite senior members) are generally happy to chat, no matter how busy they are.

ConsSince it's a large company, sometimes it seems that an individual's contribution does not impact the company much. The managers do try, however, to recognize the contributions, even if it doesn't eventually pan out.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep listening to the employees, and they will continue to pay you back with great work and quality products.

    Good internship experience.

Software Engineering Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsCorporate housing. Relocation is paid for. Very excellent free gym access. Flexible hours depending on your team. Casual work environment.

ConsI felt that there wasn't enough attention in terms of mentoring given to me as an intern. The pay could've been a bit more when compared with other similarly sized software companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe leadership was good overall. Team lead was very knowledgeable and competent technically. However they could have paid more attention to the intern and given me more feedback and guidance.

It allowed me to get a feel for software engineering in qualcomm.

Software Engineer Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsThere are really good benefits and a lot of great people to work with. The teams are usually very diverse and there are always good oportunities around.

ConsThe work can sometimes get quiet slow and boring, but you just need to keep looking for more interesting work that is around.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey should allow some type of choice program so that new hires can choose which department they can go into.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
