    Pros

Bright people, leading edge technology, great culture (atleast until last year)

    Cons

lot of dead weight, management biases, rest and vest culture, HR policies not applied uniformly across groups and departments.

    Advice to Management

come back to reality, need some new blood and fresh ideas at mid/sr management level. repeating same things again wont yield different results.

    Pros

    1. Great people (my team and teams that I work with). 2. Good salary and benefit (until 2014). 3. Beautiful city, perfect weather (San Diego)

    Cons

    1. Always busy, pressure and stress sometimes 2. Expensive life at San Diego 3. Very fast pace environment (almost no time to learn) 4. Layoff, bonus and salary reductions since 2014 5. Dealing with demanding customers 6. Crazy work hours (10am-7pm)

    Advice to Management

Reduce the pressure, and increase the benefits, otherwise you will loose your smart engineers. They are your assets, so stay competitive and keep them happy.

    Pros

HQ in San Diego. Great benefits (Base salary 401K, ESPP, RSU, Bonus, Health ins. etc..). Many talented people. Lots of opportunities for personal growth inside the company.

    Cons

Not a lot of free perks (e.g. food). Some hiccups since it lots few important accounts. Too many redundancy that can be easily eliminated.

    Advice to Management

Cut down on the non-engineers redundancy part but keep the engineers.

    Pros

Good pay, including bonuses and stock, good benefits, employee friendly policies, flexible hours, recognizes successes, encourage training. Excellent tool availability, and will purchase more when needed.

    Cons

Long hours, unrealistic schedules, projects often understaffed. Attempts to leverage existing designs where it may not be the best approach. Top heavy management, leaving little room to advance. Repetitive assignments limit opportunities for personal growth.

    Advice to Management

Trust input from line level management regarding timelines and resources when planning and sizing projects. Allow some downtime between for people to get training. Focus more on employee growth and shuffle folks to diversify their skills, employees will be happier, more focused and efficient.

    Pros

    Good compensation and benefits (for now); generally friendly people that are easy to work with; can work on cutting-edge technology and for an industry leader; high retention rate, few people leave because this is considered the pinnacle of many fields; an environment that can have a grad-school feel at times (to a point, see: upcoming layoffs);

    Cons

Crunch-time is the default state, expect to work evenings and weekends often, which will get worse with the hiring freeze; benefits and stock grants to be cut; rising is slow due to people entrenched in the top positions

    Advice to Management

Use the upcoming cost reduction to clean house at the top; if you really care about costs, then put away the politics and personalities and find out who's actually performing for the bottom line

    Pros

Good place to work. People nice. Large place allows for no one person to be responsible.

    Cons

Phone market is commoditizing. Difficult to move new ideas forward.

    Advice to Management

Understand that the world sometimes moves faster than you would like it to. Need to stay ahead.

    Pros

I worked at Qualcomm for 6 years and consider it to be some of the best years of my 10+ year career. I learned a lot about the telecommunications industry and became a better professional while working there. I also got to interact with a lot of senior leadership and worked on some really interesting projects, including a video project that featured Qualcomm's leaders and its augmented reality technology.

    Cons

Within the department where I worked, leadership played favorites. I found that I was passed up for a promotion a few time because the "decision makers" wanted someone else to be promoted over me. Decisions to promote were not based on merit alone and politics played a huge role. I also found that performance plans were not adhered to that regularly. We had them and discussed them with our managers every 6 months but goals weren't measured in a manner that yielded a consistent result.

    Advice to Management

Put more of an emphasis on performance plans, goals and 360 reviews. Allow those who deserve to be promoted to get that chance because they earned it.

    Pros

    Great people and Great benefits

    Cons

More cost cuttings these days, backing off in investments the moment there is a slightest downfall of the company.

    Advice to Management

More aggressive to believe, invest and take the next step in your new investments and ideas.
