Probably the best company I ever worked for.

Support Engineer, Senior (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsI think that the positive things about working for Qualcomm were the outstanding benefits package (free medical, dental and optical insurance), great pay, plenty of opportunity for advancement, excellent in house training and education benefits The working environment was stimulating in that there were always new projects in the pipeline so that you never got bored working on the same thing constantly.

ConsThe workload there was incredible and there never seemed to be enough time in the day or enough people to get it done although we all seemed to manage to get through it.

Lively culture, broad palette of products makes work interesting

    Security Engineer, Staff (Current Employee)

ProsWorking at Qualcomm exposes you to hundreds of different products in several markets. Mobile is not the end of the story. Cultural and intellectual exchange are part of the job. On top of this, good salary and benefits contribute to satisfaction.

ConsThe company is large and established, therefore career opportunities may be limited with respect to smaller companies. Communication across boundaries is sometimes difficult.

Advice to Senior ManagementIdeas from the bottom should have more opportunities to bubble up.

    High-quality interning environment

    Interim Engineering Intern (Former Employee)

ProsExcellent housing and compensation package provided to interns. Very good mentoring program - never felt like I was being pressured, but still was able to contribute to 'real' work. Good program for moving into a full-time position.

ConsThe lion's share of the company's official attention appears to be given to groups that work at the main San Diego campus. Groups that are in other locations (even if still in San Diego) can feel a bit isolated.
