    Pros

Has a patent on deduplication which the company uses quite effectively. Has lots of talented people on board. Products are generally quite mature.

    Cons

There is a large legacy codebase. If you join as a software developer, you will probably end up fixing bugs most of the time. If that's the kind of job you like, you'll love it here.

    Advice to Management

Need to do more to encourage innovation in engineering department. Not everyone likes to fix bugs all the time. Maybe start a "20% project", Google style? Need more tech-talks where engineers can present their ideas.

I worked at Quantum Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of good people work for this company and a lot of the immediate managers supervisors are great. Compensation is fair. Benefits are good. Vacation time!

    Cons

Stark division between teams, with some serious superiority complex, competition going on. Upper management is very inflexible, and if you're not in the club you don't feel like anything you do really matters. This place can feel very lonely and isolated and sterile environment. The corporation also needs a major reworking... it's bread and butter is Tape LIbrary technology... that can't be a good plan moving forward. It's deesperately wants to reinvent itself but it seems that it's modern techonology is inferior to it's competition. This is an old dinosaur of a company that needs to either evolve, or suffer a prolonged and painful death.

    Advice to Management

Value the work and opinions of every team equally. Sales is great but nothing to sell if you don't value your support and development.

    Pros

Strong engineering and field technician support.

    Cons

Management needs to be changed. They have no idea what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

More VP's need to see medium size accounts and come to the territories more. At corporate they get stuck in a vacuum.

I worked at Quantum Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay, flexibility, health conscious and office culture were all great in my short time there. It was a great position with a lot of career potential. Unfortunately I was brought on about 6 months before some corporate restructuring and layoffs needed to occur. So myself and about 120 other people were released.

    Cons

The product and systems training wasn't good. It was all done with recorded, online tutorials that you did by yourself. It was not intuitive at all and seemed pretty antiquated for a technology company.

I worked at Quantum Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Product line up. Good benefits. Good work-life balance. Talented engineering pool. Some portions of business doing well while others flounder.

    Cons

For a high-tech company they are stuck in the past as far as using new tools for collaboration and other tasks. Constant lay-offs for the past several years even though management keeps saying this is the last one. Leadership team fails to provide adequate direction. very unstable as far as job security.

    Advice to Management

Start over with new management team across the board. bring in new perspectives. Update tools.

I have been working at Quantum Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good team and work environment. Overall I can see some growth for me. But the company pace is very slow. Management has to be aggressive.

    Cons

Company is not fast paced. I am a software engineer and found that management is not very aggressive. Compensation-wise its below average. Culture is not very relaxed. I would like to see shorts in summer time but people here use only business casuals.

    Advice to Management

    Be more aggressive.

I have been working at Quantum Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Mostly good people. Good benefits. Good products.

    Cons

Certain departments are not given training or sufficient resources, then they're over staffed to compensate for those deficits. Silo mentality (not as bad as it was).

    Advice to Management

I've seen improvements, so I encourage them to keep that trajectory.
