    I worked at Quest Diagnostics

    Pros

Paid lunch, easy work, let you listen to music. Some of the fellow employees are really cool. If you do overnight it's a decent amount of cash otherwise don't bother. Can also get overtime pretty easily.

    Cons

They play favorites and some that have been there their whole lives seem to think they're managers when they're not.
You're not allowed to get up from your seat. They monitor your bathroom breaks.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time

    Pros

I worked in a fun district and my manager was great.

    Cons

They changed the bonus structure for 2015 by making it not solely based on numbers but how many times you use a detail screen, are you doing a pre-call plan for EVERY call, are you logging in your calls into salesforce.com in a timely fashion, etc. You might as well go work in primary care pharma sales cause this is the SAME micromanaging nonsense. They reduced their medical benefits and they cut their cell phone reimbursement which is where you do most of your company emails...way to keep people motivated. They shifted people around to new territories, "based on where you live." The SMART thing would've been basing it on how you are currently performing in your territory. And if they shift you to a new territory, you don't get any kind of guarantee if the territory is performing poorly. Nor do you get a raise in salary to offset your loss. Talk about complete lack of motivation. And speaking of salary increases, don't expect to surpass inflation on a year-year basis. The TOP rep gets a 3% increase, don't expect to make big bucks. And god forbid if a client moves, dies, etc...you're STILL responsible for their budget and will NEVER get relief. This company REALLY believes sales people are replaceable and clients will send no matter what rep services them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You don't listen about retaining top talent so you probably won't taken any advice others may have.

    I worked at Quest Diagnostics

    Pros

Excellent salary and benefits. 401k company match 100% up to 6%. 15% of hourly wage for third shift. Good health benefits. Yearly bonus based on gross salary tied to company profits. Yearly health fair, free for employee & spouse, deduction from your bi-weekly health payments if you maintain certain health criteria. 8 weeks of vacation per year.

    Cons

Laboratory in Michigan going through major downsizing due to work being sent to Chicago. Large staff reduction that has been going on for the last 2 years, skeleton staff left in lab that will probably be closing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Processing managment did not know how to do the jobs that they managed. Never received any support. While lab has been downsizing, they will not share any company information with the department. I was severed with no notice even after being told we would receive 2 weeks notice.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They had great benefits until Obama Care. Vacation time was very liberal and they match 5% for 401k. I enjoyed the people I worked with.

    Cons

After Rusckowski took over as CEO it became so difficult to work there he decided to go to a regional lab concept and reduced the work force in a lot of cities. It is so" Money Centered" that the patients and employees don't matter anymore. We were walking on eggshells not knowing who was going to get cut next. The regional labs are so overwhelmed that they can't keep up with the demand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

"You don't build a business you build People and then the People build the business". This has been on a steady decline. Value your employees and treat them better than just a number for the all mighty dollar. Remember we are people too. Patients are suffering because employees don't care anymore.

    Pros

    Health insurance, education assistance, co-workers

    Cons

Upper management show favoritism, are biased, and care more about money than quality. If you don't know someone it's hard to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so cut throat and deceitful.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The employees are all great work with and know how to work as a team. Everyone helps eachother out for the good of the patients.

    Cons

Management is terrible. Very disorganized and most managers are two faced. They say one thing to your face and something completely different behind your back. Not very customer service orientated and set bad examples for employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to change completely. Human resources should start fresh with all new people who actually care about the good of the patient.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Initially room for growth
    Flexibility to work from home

    Cons

    No work life balance whatsoever
Working from home = not seeing the sunlight
Zero focus on employee satisfaction. Bonuses have been flattened for everybody regardless of work put in.
Not rehiring employees, putting workload on existing staff.
Lack of over support and consideration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on the people. Your shareholders will feel the impact, stop cutting the rewards just to give senior leadership their bonuses and the shareholders their dinky dividends. I could never recommend this place to a friend. I have felt the most stress, lack of sleep, and overall feeling of inadequacy in my job in the last 2-3 years due to the new regime's uncaring nature of the people. You need to seriously consider the consequences of your actions. You may be thinking stocks look great now, just wait until all of your experts leave.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you care for helping people, and or lab work it is a good place to work. Culture is very strict with many rules and some micromanagement. If you like to work with different problems that arise daily then this is your place. Many things are not routine, many different issues arise.

    Cons

They want you to follow everything to a T. Management in my opinion is very heavy and because of the size of the company it is a little hard to ever see "top management". For example I worked there three years and never saw the CEO or CFO the entire time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say that right hand and left hand should always know what they are doing.
