I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Completed my externship at the San Carlos clinic and enjoyed the staff and patients. Very fast-paced and nice location.
    The patients were friendly.

    Cons

Driving from Oakland daily wasn't fun - commute was too long.
The facilities trash wasn't emptied daily.
The trash in the restrooms needed to be emptied/cleaned daily

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have the facility garbage cans emptied/cleaned daily, especially the restroom garbage cans.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Room for advancement with yearly bonus. Training for positions are satisfactory. Compensation is fine depending on position. Always room for personal growth inside company.

    Cons

Can be stressful at times. Time-off polices are based on first come first served but includes pay. Leadership tends to change more than often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hourly rate should match employee integrity. Time-off policies can be improved. Leadership should be more consistent.

    Pros

    Great compensation and benefits
    Comperable paid time off
Community Discounts with cell phone carriers, universities, and others
Campus cafeteria and small gym room

    Cons

Politics that are typical of most public traded companies. Corporate is like big brother that sometimes seems to hender progress and prevents teams from filling positions that despirately need filled. This causes extra stress on key players and has caused some people to leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I enjoyed the people I worked with and the work flow routine. There were no quotas when I worked there though.

    Cons

The pay was much lower than their competitors and, in the end, they went through layoffs when they lost contracts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise wages and benefits for employees.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits, good pay, great learning experience. Loved the people I worked with.

    Cons

Complaints/comments to supervisor were NOT kept confidential; basically you need to be a "snitch" to be in good terms with upper management. Personally found that out the hard way and learned to keep my mouth shut when it comes to disclosing any HONEST issues/concerns/comments to the supervisor about a lead (or any upper management). Training within this department was extremely unorganized and done by an old lady that has been working for the company in this department for 15 years, whom has memory loss, (and is going through menopause) making the entire training process overwhelmingly confusing. She would explain the steps for a certain procedure while leaving out numerous minor (but important) details, and as a result this would get us "newbies" in trouble by other managers/leads because we did something wrong/incorrectly/out of order/missed a step within the procedure of processing specimen samples. Overworked graveyard shifts, NO HOLIDAYS OFF (includes thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE). Also, major LAY OFFS due to company moving locations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Somebody needs to see how corrupt management is, and hire someone who actually manages the department genuinely and honestly.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Full time benefits are plenty. If you know the right people then there is room for for faster growth. They pay for classes related to the company.

    Cons

You have to use your vacation time or lose most of it. Some of the people can be catty and should not be trusted, most will throw you under the bus when given the chance but that's corporate for you. Seems the customer is always right no matter how crazy they are and there are plenty nut jobs that will lie to your face.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more supportive to the employees, especially those who have shown loyalty to the company and has proven themselves good workers. Show them you care about them as much as the customers, if not more.
