I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time

    Pros

None that I can think of, except that being a courier in general gets you out of the office and away from most of the corporate nonsense.

    Cons

Excessively over-micromanaged and treated couriers like kindergarten children. Encouraged to find new account leads for the sales reps as a great way to make bonuses which ended up being extra work generated for nothing as the leads from couriers were consistently ignored or never paid. A simple small mistake would lead to an overblown interrogation and/or firing as was the way nearly every courier left the company, by the terrible consequences of a slight human error.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Coworkers, great immediate supervisor, that's about all

    Cons

Poor morale amongst frontline employees, burnt out employees, corperate shows no respect for frontline employees, it's all about the stock holders, not sure if problems are at the top level or middle management, whichever, they don't seem to care or value their employees, a lot of good, experienced workers have either been let go or found new jobs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acknowledge and address the morale issues, realize the frontline workers can only do so much, quality of services has been replaced with quantity of service

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics

    Pros

Work location. Healthcare. Medical laboratory. Some outstanding employees. Benefits. Diverse workforce. Working here is like working at the United Nations.

    Cons

Supervisors who can't or won't work the bench depend on their favorites to tell them what's going on at work/what's involved in getting the work done. The stories they're told are slanted to make the favorites look overworked or more productive than the non-favored ones. Or the favorites will say the work is more complex/manual than it really is to ensure continued inflated FTE ratios. Workloads are not equivalent. These supervisors will listen to their favorites. They're missing out on getting other work perspectives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk in my shoes one day to get a clear picture of what goes on at work. You'll see frustrations galore and countless opportunities for improving the workflow.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The people that work here are some of the most dedicated, hard working people I have ever met! It makes the workday go much faster.

    Cons

As a member of their leadership team I found the job challenging in and of itself. You seem to have more work than the day will allow for regardless of how well organized you are. I can appreciate the need to do more with less given our economy, however, management seemed to want to make the job harder than it needed to be. Also, very long hours. I would start my day at 4 am and still be in meetings at 7pm. That was the norm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at life / work balance.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The stressful working conditions force staff work together effectively. The staff members are an amazing group of individuals.

    Cons

Poorly trained management creates a very stressful work environment. Supervisors are not trained and have no experience in the sections they oversee. Favoritism, harassment, and discrimination is commonplace at this lab. Opportunities for advancement and new training are only for the favored. Employment elsewhere is strongly recommended.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please quit.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

If your desperate for a paycheck and not looking for something long term then get in and get out.

    Cons

Poor leadership and professionalism by management and inexperienced reports... unapproachable, unprofessional and just horribly rude. Management is a push over turning a death ear on multitude of complaints. individuals that are supposed to be leading the team in and causing several employees new, seniored and temps to leave and not stay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a grip on the and manage. Set accountability standards through constant coaching, documenting and rating reviews. Stet leadership classes in place. Management needs to take a more proactive approach and really start managing and listening to the employees. They already know they have lost good talent and will continue to do so if they don't get a handle. You would never believe that the Human Resources dept. would tolerate such unprofessionalism by there own people that they put in place to represent HR.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Used to be a great place just because of the benies. That's all gone now. They work is intense, which I enjoy. But that only goes so far.

    Cons

Now they want you to verify your dependents. Give them your marriage license AND tax returns. When does this abuse end?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Watch out. There will be mass defection to your competitors. But you probably don't care. You'll print your silly magazine telling the world how everyone just loves working for Quest. But the truth is...............

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Honestly, I do not find any thing good other than good vacation days.

    Cons

too complicated processes, too much paper work, it is impossible to get anything done in the first round, unrealistic goals. With all the work either being centralized or outsources, reps have a difficult time to get anything done for the customers, too many hands in a pie with all kinds of specialty reps. As a result, one practice get approached by at least 4-5 different reps multiplying the confusion. Too much employee turn over. Managers do not have required skills to coach employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your 5 point strategy is not working. Stop tooting your horns and pay attention to skilled reps. Work on retaining skilled employees and stop creating too many top level positions.
