I have been working at Quest Diagnostics part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Used to be a great place just because of the benies. That's all gone now. They work is intense, which I enjoy. But that only goes so far.

    Cons

Now they want you to verify your dependents. Give them your marriage license AND tax returns. When does this abuse end?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Watch out. There will be mass defection to your competitors. But you probably don't care. You'll print your silly magazine telling the world how everyone just loves working for Quest. But the truth is...............

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Honestly, I do not find any thing good other than good vacation days.

    Cons

too complicated processes, too much paper work, it is impossible to get anything done in the first round, unrealistic goals. With all the work either being centralized or outsources, reps have a difficult time to get anything done for the customers, too many hands in a pie with all kinds of specialty reps. As a result, one practice get approached by at least 4-5 different reps multiplying the confusion. Too much employee turn over. Managers do not have required skills to coach employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your 5 point strategy is not working. Stop tooting your horns and pay attention to skilled reps. Work on retaining skilled employees and stop creating too many top level positions.

    Pros

Starting salary and company name if that is important to you

    Cons

Company was dishonest during the interview; not forthright about the position, how long it had been vacant and why such high turnover in the position. Focussed on the dollar and not the employee. Treats even salaried employees like slaves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be as honest with a candidate as you expect candidates to be with you.

    A TERRIBLE PLACE TO WORK

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits, and I cannot really think of anything else but this as to have a minimum of 20 words.

    Cons

You cannot use those good benefits because you cannot afford the rising co-pays/deductibles.

Favoritism is rampant. Trying to get time off if you are not one of the favorite employees is like pulling teeth, yet my team lead as had about a week off every month since she started as the lead this past December. Kind of odd you would think till you discover that she is the one who creates the monthly work schedules and arranges everyone's time off.

If you let them they will use you till you drop of health problems. And if you stand up for yourself they insult you and attempt to make your work life hell.

They keep trying to "fix" the company through "one size fits all" policies rather fix the major problems staring them in the face. You feel under valued as an employee if you are not in some sort of corporate setting. Recently combined all HR into a "HR SERVICE CENTER" pretty much like calling a help desk. You no longer have a specific rep assigned to your area. So trying to get the same rep every time is pretty much impossible.

They send out an employee survey each year and each year the response is less and less. I believe this past year the response in my region was less then 17%. In the past 4 years of working for Quest the exact same problems are brought up by employees every year and every year Quest says we are going to work on and fix these. Every year they end up "fixing" problems that were not only not on the list but nobody knew these "problems" even existed.

I have to have a good working knowledge of 4 computer systems, 2 of which I am pretty sure were designed in the early 80s before I was born, yet I am in the lowest paid bracket of the company. Hell, just for knowing those systems I should get higher pay, let alone my Phlebotomy skills

My best advice for anyone looking for a job at Quest is don't. Don't even try, the benefits are not worth the trouble.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at how many different computer systems the average Phleb has to have a good working knowledge of. Now ask yourself, Why do our lowest paid employees have to know how to work 4 different computer systems, 2 of which were built in the 80s? Fix that mess and you'll fix the company.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay was decent and the hours were acceptable for the shifts offered. They did have special days and some employee recognition. They give free coffee and hot chocolate to their staff.

    Cons

The management is shady, two-faced, and have "pets," so be very careful about only doing your job while working there. The right foot doesn't know what the left foot is doing half of the time, so specimens get lost, important tasks get missed, and just plain disorganization all around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Equality among employees should be a must! Learn your positions and work them as you should.

    Pros

None anymore other error then the IOP office I work in is the only reason I'm still with this crap hole non caring company.

    Cons

Pay pay pay. Employee careness. Written up due to snow

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You all can afford to send your sales teams on work conventions close down universal studios for a night spend 5 million dollars on it. But the employees who bust there butts for you and your money get jack crap. I'm glad Mr. RUSCKOWSKI sent the email to upset an entire company that only some raises would be given. Personally I thought it would get better boy was I wrong. It's not fair. ALSO GIVING OCCURRENCES FOR BEING OUT OR LATE DUE TO WEATHER NOT FAIR......

I worked at Quest Diagnostics part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good pay compared to similar positions and nice to be able to work at home, everything provided by company except headset

    Cons

Quality reviews are almost impossible to pass. Passing is 90 but if you forget to document just one little thing said by applicant, just ONE THING, 10 points are deducted and if you forgot to verify something in demographics or interrupt applicant or cough or sniffle without muting microphone that's another 1 to 2 points, so too bad you FAIL. Everything you do not document is 10 points each. Need to document everything said by applicant verbatim yet not enough space to type everything so need to copy and paste and the end and find room for this information to fit which is very time consuming BUT only have 1-3 minutes after each call to clean up order and make everything perfect. Told not to let applicant ramble but if you interrupt an applicant you get point deducted on quality. Unrealistic expectations. Revolving door at this company. They are ALWAYS hiring. I stuck it out for almost 1 year but just couldn't take it anymore. Rules always changing. Supervisors and group leads seem to have different policies and rules because you get a different answer depending on who you ask so impossible to know what is truly correct procedure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want EVERYTHING documented verbatim then you need to update program so there is unlimited space to type. Keep in mind we are humans, not robots. It is almost impossible to type everything verbatim without using shorthand or a special machine such as what stenographers use. You want everything perfect but allow almost no time for review or corrections. Set some realistic expectations and maybe you will be able to keep your employees.
