    Innovative, trend-setting company culture

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCompany culture is great (if you're not stale, stodgy, corporate...). Work environment is great depending upon role - some areas work hard and long hours while other areas work hard and more sensible hours. Leadership is passionate and are seeking people who complement the culture (first) and contribute to the skill/experience needed (second). Pay and benefits are comparable to other companies (oh, team building activities occur much more often here ... again it's the cuture!). Also, banker and underwriter roles get awesome compensation bonuses although with a LOT of hours (and little work-life balance). Movement to other positions in the company is much easier than other companies, providing you complement the culture.

ConsWork hours can be challenging (or awful) in some sales/production related roles, however, bonuses often compensate in most cases (if it's all about the money for you and you're not into much work-life balance). Many (not all) junior leadership tend to lack decent experience and training, since it's primarily about the culture first. The commute can be quite challenging for those living in the surrounding metro area.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep training those junior leaders; seek opportunities for better work-life balance for the sales/production (and the like) roles so turn-over doesn't become a detriment and your reputation of being a "community building company" isn't compromised / hypocritical ... by not providing a work-life balance careers.

A sports culture that will push you beyond your comfort zone.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsQL has one of the most dynamic and fun environments to work in that I've ever seen. Probably only rivaled by Google or Pixar. The feeling you get in EVERY building is very much like the Jurassic Park reference of "spared no expense." I'm typing this on my retina display Mac Book Pro, my dual monitors, and my elevating desk.. and that's pretty standard around here. This company definitely has no problem spending money on tech or design and decor. It also has a rather unique sports culture founded on the company's ISMs - standards and ways of thinking that everyone is asked to adopt. You'll find yourself right at home here if you love high standards, growing to your potential, and like many major sports themed cultures, being asked to do 5 more pushups when you think you can only to 2 more. I've grown SO much by being here and it's been an experience I recommend for everyone.

ConsWork-life balance is the number one reason team members leave QL. Expect many positions to be production-focused and compensated based on performance. This is not your standard 9-5 type of place. If you are young and having nothing but free time, you won't mind, because the harder you work the more you make. But if you're a family person with a spouse and kids, don't plan on making it home for dinner.

Great culture and training, long hours and no work-life balance as a banker

    Senior Mortgage Banker (Former Employee)
    Detroit, MI

Pros-As a banker, you are given excellent training and feedback
-You are compensated well for your work. With any degree or even no degree, you can make more than in many other companies

Cons-You work at least 2 weekends a month and work about 10-14 hour days
-Your production is constantly monitored and shown to your entire team and region. If you are not performing, you will get fired, yelled at etc.
-You don't really have control over your hours or production. You may be satisfied with a certain commission check, but you don't get to set your own goals. Quicken always wants more

Fun energetic place to work, great culture, management could use some tweaking

    Operations Specialist (Current Employee)
    Detroit, MI

ProsFair pay and great commission structure put play to reward you for working hard. Everyone is friendly and energetic. Benefits are amazing and could not ask for more. Great training structure.

ConsManagement likes to micromanage, had team members hired in under assumption they were going to develop skills within the division, but ended up being moved to a completely different division where they did not feel comfortable. They had no say in the matter, either take the new position or they had no job.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet people do their job with limited interruptions, huddles every other day are pointless and the majority of info covered could be sent out in a email and be clear to everyone. Don't force people to other areas of the company if they do not feel comfortable with moving.

Fun, Great place to learn and grow

    Applications Support Analyst (Current Employee)
    Detroit, MI

ProsRich Culture with lot of support from everyone. There are a lot of people here with heavy background in developer positions as well as business knowledge. Tapping that information can be hard sometimes, but definitely worth the shot everytime.

ConsCan be jampacked scheduling sometimes and intern pay is not as good. Dont expect to get a job after the internship, they hire too many interns to give all of them full time jobs afterwards.
