I worked at R.R. Donnelley full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People, Policies, Leadership, HR, Collaboration with other teams, Benefits. I have worked at other Companies and can say that this place is wonderful. There is innovation with their product ActiveDisclosure. As an employee you have the opportunity to work with new applications that are cutting edge. My leader was far from micro-managing, instead he encouraged tough conversations and was very transparent and honest. I had the perfect blend of work-life balance and was able to take my daughter to her ballet class once a week in the middle of the day.

    Cons

Absolutely nothing. There was always food and tons of team builders. Even the meetings were a blast.

    Advice to Management

Continue to inspire and motivate the staff.

    I worked at R.R. Donnelley full-time

    Pros

Its a good company to work for. I was given sooo much overtime. I hit like 23 days in a row working a couple times. I liked it, you may not. I loved the training when being hired on. Lockout/tagout, CPR, bloodborne pathogen, welding permits, stretching/lifting techniques, electrical safety, etc. It was clear that even though you were doing the same things the temps where doing, you were being invested in. They actually gave you a way to escape an otherwise good, but dead-end job (who wants to pack boxes for 11$ an hour at age 40??) by progressing your skills. The workload was ... a bit mundane, I mean it was packing boxes, but you were able to listen to radio, and (gasp!) I was actually able to sit down for a bit while waiting for the next envelopes to come through when my press was slow. It feels like at so many places, it doesn't matter if you have literally nothing to do, you need to be standing up, and cant sit down, regardless of it not affecting what you are doing in 1 bit. The people there were very friendly, and the bosses were as well. I really do miss them.

    Cons

There are a lot of temp workers, who make atleast 2$ less than the full-time people. thats not my main problem. The problem is, full time people are low on vacation days, and have 0 in their first 6 months, despite the fact that the temps rarely ever work, and they mostly would like the extra money, they do not allow you to take a day off, even unpaid, even when the temps havnt worked in 2 weeks and would love the opportunity to work. The other problem is scheduling, in that its not done efficiently. There should really be a computer program, or online form, where you can say what days you want to work and if you want days off, and what sort of overtime you want, and the temps can do it too and work on a day you want off. There is a Winshare thing where if you go a whole year meeting all these goals, and waste goals you are eligible for a percentage of your annual pay... IF the company decides they have the money for it. Well .5% makes it not even worthwhile to try and hold these goals, go back to paying 5%, 7%, etc liek you used to.

    Pros

A break that you can split up into however you want to use it. Lunch at your desk. Personally, I hate taking lunches, I think they are a waste of time. I like that I can eat whenever I want and then take a break for a few minutes to step outside.

    Cons

    Only a temp job unfortunately.

    Advice to Management

Let lower management hire the people they need.

    Pros

Depressing company to work for. Their basic HR strategy is making their employees feel worthless. Less and less benefits each year. We've been given 1% pay-raise across the board the last few years. Managers are clueless; basically foremen. Worst employee morale I've ever encountered, half the people should be on suicide watch.

    Cons

Working here will make you appreciate all those other jobs you thought were depressing and dehumanizing.

    Advice to Management

    Have a little soul.
