ProsRelaxed Environment, Good Benefits, By the beach.

ConsPeople come here and get stuck, people rarely speak to each other, there is no upward mobility, bad communication, the rest of the company is at the helm of the researchers.

Advice to Senior ManagementReward hard working employees, don't ignore them.

Current Employee – been working at RAND full-time for more than 7 years

ProsGreat location, great pay, beautiful office, excellent tools.

ConsIt's stunning how an organization as successful and notable still relies upon managment tactics of the 1960s. Employees are treated punitively, communications are top down. Collaboration is only successful within if one is fortunate to be in with the in crowd.

Advice to Senior ManagementBeef up staff development, ensure that every employee is treated as an employee of the organization. Researchers are employees too - and providing opportunites to grow - organizationally - in addition to opportunites to grow academically will push RAND from good to great.

Provide opportunites to hear back from all employees about best practices, new fresh approaches to the business. Just saying 'my door is open' is sadly counterproductive to building dynamic employees.
