I have been working at RBC Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

-Once TM/TL's recognize your capabilities (it takes a while) they will give you useful experience, however if they don't find you capable of fulfilling certain tasks, they will not bother with helping you develop.
-Work-life balance is decent once you have some seniority
-Company values are good, very client focused

    Cons

-It took some time for management to recognize me for accomplishments and trust me with more complex tasks and duties that would aid my career.
-They stopped promoting people to senior positions in my department (and pay), therefore now I am in a situation where I do more than a Senior does, and am considered a senior, however I am not being compensated as one... whereas actual Seniors have been able to kept their Senior pay increase, without continuing to deserve it as they will only help minimally.
    -Benefit costs increase each year
-End of year bonus will depends mainly on your numbers/stats, which can sometimes be a little unrealistic.

    Pros

There is a good working environment.

    Cons

Senior Management always takes a reactive approach with staffing issues and wait for 3 or 4 employees to leave before they readjust salaries. They also tend to promote people based on seniority rather than merit and potential for growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a risk and promote people with potential and stand behind your decisions. Promoting the more senior people is not the way to go.

I have been working at RBC Insurance full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

All the perks of a big company, lots of opportunities if you go looking for them. Many of the people I have met so far are very friendly and eager to share their experiences. The internal job website is very useful to see what else is out there.

    Cons

None so far, though some coworkers seem pretty cynical and lack ambition, there seems to be a lack of talent. I imagine the hours would be tough for someone with more responsibilities.
