I have been working at RE/MAX

    Pros

It's the biggest real estate company in the world and the USA. It has outstanding brand recognition and resources available to it's agents

    Cons

It's not for the newbie realtors. You need to be successful in real estate and have a following in order to be successful with the company.

    I worked at RE/MAX part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Boutique atmosphere, fully staffed and equipped; great corporate support; custom software and occasional leads.

    Cons

"You eat what you kill"; 100% commission based; benefits are on you. They do offer some group plans but the cost is on the real estate professional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good model; helpful brokers who are well trained

    I have been working at RE/MAX full-time

    Pros

Easy to get along with the employees. The training only takes 6 months for what I do. Good work/life balance. I was working M-F from 9-5 and that was great.

    Cons

The management was horrible. Many bad decisions made by management which cost the company time and money. Not much room for advancement. No overtime opportunities.

    I worked at RE/MAX full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In the beginning, the work/life balance was great - there were several company-sponsored employee events with food and drinks during the workday. The benefits packages were amazing - huge 401(k) match, no cost health insurance, lots of paid time off.

    Cons

As the company grew, new management came in and took over. All of the perks slowly went away and employee satisfaction was no longer important. It also became hugely apparent that people who didn't deserve promotions were getting them. Management didn't reward the hard workers, they rewarded the people who kissed the most butt and back-stabbed their co-workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay better attention to the actual work your employees are doing, not just who you like the best because they kiss your butt the most. Once you took away the perks and then still told the employees to be grateful, you caused a lot of unhappiness. Your employees work hard for you - show your appreciation more.

I have been working at RE/MAX

    Pros

Never had to work weekends, kept busy in a professional environment.

Very unorganized, had to share a computer (which made my job next to impossible to do).

I worked at RE/MAX part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It was an easy summer job; answering phone calls and making files for brokers and navigating real estate websites. All the agents were pleasant.

    Cons

Business was slow at times. The office I worked at was pretty boring, in the summer I was by myself most of the time as agents were always busy.

    Pros

National Affiliate with international name recognition.

    Cons

Broker Splits are high. The Split with the company and the head broker as well as the fees were too high. Many leads were promised but not fulfilled. The head office broker that interviewed me promised leads ready to go which was not the case at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More formal training programs and better lead flow
