    Pros

Weekly Pay.. Simple Job. Nice family environment,

    Cons

Management sucks. Half of the time they don't know what they're talking about. They expect you to do a lot for minimum pay. You're better off working at McDonald's.

    Advice to Management

stop the favoritism and know your job responsibilities.

I worked at Raley's (More than a year)

    Pros

Employees are a wonderful group of people.

    Cons

Lack of focused execution. Flavor of the month is very popular. Computer systems are very old and difficult to use, making completing job tasks difficult. Decision makers do not understand how employees use the systems to do their jobs. Millions of dollars are wasted in lost efficiency and cash leakages.

    Advice to Management

Walk around. Understand what your employees do and how they do it. Work on removing road blocks and resolving their issues.

I have been working at Raley's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    • Team Members are like family. • Teamwork is apparent. • FAMILY Values are truly a part of what we do.

    Cons

    • Very inconsistent scheduling; no time to plan because schedule come out less than a week before the next; fellow employees may receive more hours. • Some rules are nonsensical. • Courtesy Clerks are significantly underpaid. Labor is significantly greater in comparison to similar-paying jobs. • Managers don't ensure training for newly-hired employees which leaves other employees stressed and overworked. • No company apparel.

    Advice to Management

Provide consistent schedules, enforce rules appropriately, schedule someone to train newly-hired employees, ask employees if they have any issues every now and again, and allow work to be fun and productive...the more strict you are, the less customers are going to like our repetitiveness and it take away from the personal aspect, and allow employees to interact with each other without feeling they're constantly being watched and uncomfortable.

I have been working at Raley's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are great. Thats about it.

    Cons

Wages suck at lower levels, upper management doesnt seem to care about anyone below them in "rank". There is no wage increase for training for example I started as a checker at 10 dollars an hour and am now trained in dairy, deli, and produce and still make 10 dollars flat.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stop being greedy and increase wages.

    I worked at Raley's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits (sorta), they work around your school schedule.

    Cons

They treat employees like crap. Store directors are jerks. They are union and the union screws with everything. It's a horrible job for horrible pay.

    Advice to Management

IT'S A GROCERY STORE. NO ONE RESPECTS YOU. JUST RELAX.

    I worked at Raley's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company discounts (which isn't much at all) Bounses every six months

    Cons

Never ever enough employees. Always short handed. Managers play favorites hard core. This was my first job I started working as a courtesy clerk when I was 16. when I graduated high school many of the other employees in my position were promoted bit I was not. I knew it was because I didn't kiss managements butt. I repeatedly asked management over the years about what I could do to improve my performance and so I could be promoted but I never was. A year and a half later I transferred to a different store and I was immediately promoted. Cashiering is ok, just gets boring. I also worked as a deli/bakery clerk. Manager also played favorites. The deli/bakery's manager was HORRIBLE. She would constantly talk about everyone behind their backs and talk about what everyone was doing wrong but never ever confront anyone about it, not very professional of you ask me. Working in the deli is a horrible job. There is SO much to do and never ever enough people. I usually closed and I was always staying 20-30 sometimes even an hour or more after my shift was over to make sure everything was done correctly. If you stay late they get mad at you for over time. But if you don't do what needs to be done you get in more trouble. Over all I would not recommend this company. At one time I'm sure it was a great company to work for but many things changed just over the 4 years I was there. Benefits decreased a lot, I really just felt like a number and not like a person working for this employer. For the work that you do the pay is not good.

    Pros

It was a good workout. And they had great benefits after you become part of the Union, which is mandatory after three months

    Cons

Never worked with my schedule, always scheduled me on days I couldn't work that I had told them well ahead of time I couldn't work on

    Advice to Management

Hold your staff accountable, showing up on time is a mandatory thing, not an option
