I worked at Raytheon full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, stimulating work, genuine passion for quality and value

    Cons

Defense industry is still 70% of the portfolio and even though the business is well positioned in the market, neglect of this legitimate function of the federal government has forced business restructuring and downsizing. The company is way past using reduction in force to eliminate dead wood and is forced to eliminate excellent performers. Good performance evaluations are no guarantee of longevity with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course. Remain true to ethics. Stay in touch with the good workers you have lost (invite me to the picnic like a retiree). Remember that this too shall pass.

I have been working at Raytheon

    Pros

    Good pay
    Good people
Management seems to do a good job in Fort Wayne

    Cons

    Very big company
It's hard to know how to advance your career
    Low starting vacation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Could we change to a rolling vacation schedule? It would stop the "forced/mandatory/unavailable" vacation problems.

I have been working at Raytheon

    Pros

Raytheon NCS has the best management of any place I've worked. I always had plenty to complain about at my other jobs, but not at Raytheon. Leadership tries to listen and improve things.

    Cons

Raytheon NCS primarily deals with military and government contracts. So, the culture is pro-military and usually conservative-leaning. If those aren't your views, then this company may not be a good fit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We've taken employee surveys, and I appreciate that management is trying to improve areas that scored low. Keep up the good work.
