    Pros

It is a large company with many opportunities. It has many different departments that allow you to move around within sectors. It also has many locations around the country.

    Cons

It is a large company so it isn't as personal. You are assigned one job and there are a bunch of other people in your department with the exact same job as you.

Great company. A lot of opportunity to grow. People are very nice.

    Cons

There are a lot of politics in the company... typical for big companies I am sure.

    Pros

Industry leaders in Program Planning and Scheduling. Light years ahead of other companies I've worked with.

    Cons

Hard to penetrate the "Good old boys club culture" .

    Advice to Management

    Diversify more.

    Pros

Good Opportunities if you like to live in the South West (Tucson). They are hiring lots of Signal Processing Engineers.

    Cons

Wage compression is a serious problem right now. Newly hired employees are making more than those with years of experience. This creates a potentially tense situation for management.

    Advice to Management

You get what you pay for. Quality comes at a price. Profits, policies, and processes should never be more important that people.

    Pros

Work 40 hours, good vacation time, and every other Friday off.

    Cons

Some of the work is tedious and repetitive. Lots of process/documentation.

    Pros

Processes implemented over the last 10-20 years are slowly forcing all employees to follow common best practices

    Cons

A little too much corporate sponsored encouragement of employees to view the company as offering sky's the limit promotion potential. It tends to dismantle teamwork and provoke more selfish behavior that ultimately awards the most aggressive, which is not necessarily the best set of traits in a company based on good engineering, prudent processes, and comprehensive management.

    Pros

I love the products that Raytheon makes, their support of the military, and everything in between. Lots of very smart people who are pleasant to work with for the most part.

    Cons

I wish there wasn't so much red tape. That's just the nature of a government contractor, but it's my biggest hang up about the company. I'm starting my real career in a few years, and I'm trying to decide if Raytheon is right for me. I haven't seen proof that there is room to let the creative juices flow and innovate as a young engineer; it appears more like becoming a cog in a machine. Perhaps the rest of my internship will change that view. I will edit/update/leave a new review if that happens.

    Advice to Management

Remember the little guys that support the big ones!
